Hi, I'm Kristin a SAHM of 3. They are 10,6 and 3. My husband and I have been married for 12 years. We decided before we had children that I would stay home with them and he would be the 'bread winner". That he is, but we are still trying to catch up and straighten out our finances. We've had a rough start from, our 1st and last children's medical situations and our poor financial choices. Now, for the past 2 years we are on track. We are running "full steam ahead"...but just on the track. We have done rather well considering where we were 7 years ago, but still need improvement.
I feel that with the information this site provides, members advice and support I can really turn our finances into something really positive.
I look forward to getting to know everyone and I thank all who have helped me so far! Thanks, Kristin
Hello everyone, my name is Tim and I am very interested in Personal Finance. I plan on helping others as well as posting a few of my own questions or comments.
I am so glad I found this site. I have been discharged from bankruptcy for two+ years. I am almost 28 years old and finally starting to get the hang of managing my money. I hope to learn even more here!
Hi Im Michelle.. I am single parent of a teenage daughter.. and really know nothing about money except how to spend.. am looking to learn how to manage money and get myself out of debt that has accumulated over the years..
Hi Michelle and Orangina! I've only been here for a couple of weeks, but I have REALLY learned a lot! These people are terrifically nice and helpful with all sorts of questions.
Hi there. I am a SAHM with 3 kids that we homeschool-which is a wonderful experience. We have recently moved from Texas(which we miss terribly), to Missouri. We are still trying to adjust. With homeschooling, at least the kids don't have to worry about adjusting to a new school; but they do have to meet a lot of new people through co-op, church, gymnastics, and sports.
I found this wonderful site while trying to deal with the biggest electric bill we had ever had-it was our first one in our new house, and I was freaking out until I found suggestions here on what to do. Now, my husband is a bit more low-key, and takes the bills as they come. He doesn't shop around for the best deal(cell phone, insurance, etc.), so I try to do all the research before any purchases are made. I hate to admit it, but the biggest problem we have is our views on money. He works hard for it, but doesn't do much to save it. He wiped out our savings to buy the farm next to his parents-and he did it behind my back, with my in-laws fully aware I had no idea what was going on. So this is a very sore spot within our marriage.(I tend to hold grudges when I feel that I, or my kids, have been wronged.) We are OK, but I never know when more money will be taken out to deal with that purchase-there is still a balance on it of about 170,000-although the house and land are being rented. I can NOT live there-so we also have a new house about 1 1/2 hours away-so a lot of money going out. My goodness, I do go on and on...sorry. I am so glad I found this site, where other people are trying to get rid of their debt, not just adding on to it. Looking forward to learning more!
Welcome Dixiebell - I'm just finished up homeschooling last two kiddos 18 & 20 and I think PrincessPerky on here homeschools as well - maybe some others. Wow - sounds like a horrific situation w/the farm purchase dealywho, I'd be hard pressed not to be resentful myself, sounds like you're trying to come to grips with it! OUCH! yes, lots of folks here working on clearing debt. Welcome aboard!
My frugal journey began in phases. My name is Stephen my alter ego is the
Frugal Father (tm) - (yes that the TM means trademark.)
Back in 1989 I was laid off from my wall street career (nice paying position-defeinately not of frugal nature then) due to the crash of 1988. I was just married and my wifes career had just begun so her pay was low compared to what I was used too. That was the first introduction and a rocky road it was. As time passed my health became a major player in the game respitory problems kept me from taking certain jobs so I tried and fell victim to business oppotunities, thus another segway and road into frugality.
Yadda, yadda , yadda years past and the whole family finally landed on the same page ( a daughter entered the picture). As I began writing I starting do some of it as the Frugal Father (tm) and so here I am. We live in NYC,
staten island to be exact and being frugal is our game plan. We learned alot in the past several years yes from books and folks like you but also from living a frugal lifestyle. That about it. Nice to meet you folks.
