  • Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi...I found this forum a while ago and just decided to come out of lurkdom yesterday.

Short intro - I just got done with grad school and am looking for a job. DH works full time and supports the house right now. I stay home with DS and DS#2 is on the way in Dec. We have our house payment, insurance, car payment, credit cards and eventually, student loans. Some months are tough but things are looking up. I hope to get (and give) lots of good advice here!

        Hi there,

I just joined the forum as I have been looking for online forums where people are interested in their finances. So many people out there are only interested in spending their money instead of saving it and building for their future!
I am a personal financial coach who loves to coach people along the way to whatever their financial future looks like for them. Whatever way they are works! I have found that not all people want financial freedom, some just don't want debt anymore, or want to save for their kids education and retirement.

Anyway, I look forward to looking through the posts!

Hi Everyone, I am very new to the site but not new to the principles. I was hoping for advice on where to begin my online journey. Thanks for the people who have traveled this road before me. I hope I can follow in your footsteps to my better future. At this point, I have read/studied a dozen or so books. By the way, it's a little confusing on where to start out on the website...directions, please...anyone?

I just found this website last night, and I have so many questions. I have a husband, 2 boys,no savings, and lots of debt. we got trapped in the payday loan thing, I was shocked last nite to see someone else did this( I think it was in CA). We borrowed money over and over to try to pay them off. Tried Consumer Credit but cant make the payments because I'm having to pay back $500 a month. I make money commissions and July has been bad. But finding this site I feel encouraged! does anyone know if the paid survey thing is a viable source of income? or the mystery shoppper? Thanks! Kris

Welcome Krisann, the paid survey has only gotten me a few dollars. I was a mystery shopper too, but it did not pay much either. Sorry about the payday loan thing. They should be against the law!

Suze Orman talked about payday loans once on her show -- a woman was in the same situation as you, Kris. She had originally borrowed $300 and the balance had balooned to $1300. Her advice was for the woman to do everything she could -- borrow from a 401K, sell anything, borrow from relatives, etc. to get the payday loan off of her back. They are evil.

Marie, you are right, I saw a couple on the show that had just borrowed a few hundred til the next payday, not they owe about $17,000 to payday loans. It is evil!!!
