  • Hi-

My name is Betsy and I live in Oregon. I am extremely frugal and it drives my kids crazy. I keep an Elntertainment Book in the car and decide where to eat based on whether I have a coupon or not. The kids are used to ordering from the dollar menu and have not starved to death. Being a frugal person serves me well in the insurance business because I love to find a great deal and that's what I'm able to find for my clients.

    • Hello everyone just wanted to drop by and say hi! I just sighed up today and wanted to let everyone know I'm here to help. Money makes the world go around and sometimes that can be good and sometimes that can be bad. Unfortunately it's so true and in this day and age finding new ways to make and save money is key!

      • I am a retired Certified Financial Planner and Registered Investment Advisor since 2006. Over a 30-year career, I developed a money management technology that I did not want to take to my grave so I developed it into a Personal Money Management Course for high school seniors. Because the handout was so popular among students, teachers, and staff, I decided to put it all in a book.

My passion is flying my Cessna 172. I am an aviation junkie. I am happiest between liftoff and touchdown. I also authenticate Charles and Anne Lindbergh’s autograph for Reeve Lindbergh, Manager, Lindbergh Literary, LLC for eBay, individuals, and auction houses.

I believe in trying to help others and that is why I am here on the forum. I do respect other peoples opinions so feel free to disagree. If I can help, you need only ask.

                  • This used to be a very friendly board.

Well, I still think it is, and I hope it stays that way.

But... things have gotten... I don't know competitive and strained maybe?

Most of the women that used to be on here have left now, mostly preferring to blogs I think.

I kinda miss the "old days" where you can crack jokes and have a few laughs. Hopefully, we can still keep that going. A good, friendly atmosphere.

                    So yeah, hello and welcome!

                            • Hi everyone! I'm glad I found this forum, I've belonged to a couple, but when I found this one it seemed so.... homey. Good advice and good conversation!

I'm from Delaware, and to me saving money is like a sport. I like the simple things in life: gardening, reading, taking walks.

I've recently returned to school after 20 years.. very time consuming, and I need to learn how to balance being busy with being frugal.

                              Anyway... great site!

                              • Hello all,
I was directed to this group from the Dollar Stretcher site and have really enjoyed what I have been able to read so far.
A little about me - I am 53 and raised three children on my own working as a nurse. They are all adults and have flown the coop so about a year and a half ago I quit nursing full time to pursue a dream. I now am nursing just a few days a month to 'keep my hand in' and am now a stay at home foster parent. I currently have a special needs 1yr old, a 2 yr old and a 15yr old living with me.
The chance in life however cut my income by 2/3 and although that is still manageable, I didn't change my life style and ran up some cc debt. I would like to get rid of that and start socking away some money for the day I retire.
Looking forward to learning lots and perhaps offering some help when I can.
