I'm a single mom of two teenagers and work out of my home doing web development and general computer consulting. I'm almost 42, still struggling financially and sick of it. I'm frugal, but it's easy to avoid spending money when you don't have any!
I am in the process of trying to set up various things that will generate income with little or no effort, to supplement what I am able to earn. I'm hoping that, within a year, my desk won't be jam-packed with backlogged work, my bills will all be covered and I will have some emergency funds in the bank. I have lots of ideas to share, but I must wait on some of them per forum rules.
I've been a member of another forum for a long time, but it has gotten so negative, I've decided that if I'm wasting time, it should be time worth wasting and will not be posting there any longer. I will use some of the time I save from that here, and I hope it can pay off and that I can impart some advice that will help others, too.
Hi all,
I am a divorced father. My kids live with their mom in another state. Just picked up a mortgage payment a couple months ago and really need to pay attention to my spending now. I'm tired of just scraping by an want to build up a savings.
I started out by creating a blog a few days ago and I've just found my way to the forum.
I'm a 35-year-old SAHM. My DH and I married after knowing each other for 4 months and we've now been together for over 10 years. He is 9 years older than me, which puts a different spin on saving for retirement. We have two boys ages 9 and soon-to-be 6 (in a week). I went back to college after quitting my job of 8 years back in 2004 (well I quit in 2004 and went back to college in 2006). I just finished my AA and I'm now starting on my BS degree.
I'm already enjoying myself on the blogs and look forward to reading and participating in the forum.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 29 year old husband to a 25 y/o SAHM. I am in the military and am at the middle ground where my debt is starting to vanish and the savings is starting to build. I have been visiting this site for the past year and mostly brouse the Finance Articles for advice and have recently been looking through the blogs.
Anyway, I will try and give the blogs a shot and hopefully give a perspective to others who are in similar situations and maybe some helpful feedback.
I am a married male, 50ish. My first kid just started college with another on the way there in three years, so I need big time help in cutting expenses to the bone. This is quite the financial shock!
My name is Meghan--I live--currently--in Arkansas. I'm from SoCal and Tampa, but moved here about 2 1/2 years ago--my then bf (now husband) moved me here : ) I work full-time at a bank (deposit counselor) and part time at Bath & Body Works (hours total about 50-60 each week). My Husband is currently in school and will graduate in May with a degree in Biology. After that, he's taking a year off before deciding what grad program he wants to go into--most likely either dentistry or optometry. The only debt we currently have is school loans, and $1000 that we just accrued when we bought a flat screen tv that was 3 yrs no interest/no pmts : ) Just here looking for some advice on how to save more--I'd like to buy a house in about 5 years or so!
Hello, my name is Tanya and I work in the IT field full-time. I am also a wife, mom and student. I have a laundry list of hobbies, but what I like to do the most is writing, developing ideas and event planning. I am also an aspiring cheapskate who wants to own a home one day, be able to pay for both of my daughters college educations w/o headache and to have that dream wedding (renewal for us) I've always wanted.
I've been reading the articles and forums here for the past couple days and I've learned a lot already. I'm trying to get myself out of the deep debt I'm in w/o having to go through bankruptcy so I need all the luck I can get.
Before I click on the post button, I want to say hello to everyone and DisneySteve (I remember you from budget dis and plus we're both in NJ so how can I forget - do you and your family still drive down to the World?).
I Work Construction Full Time. Work Out Here Is Pretty Lazy Right Now So I Have A Little Computer Time. I've Been Looking At A Lot Of Online Oppurtunities Lately For Myself And Possibly My Wife.
I am a 31 year old engineer married to a 32 year old SAHM. I work
in the oil and gas industry. I found the site in an article about top financial websites in Money Magazine.
As my adult children constantly remind me I saw the big 50 come up last year.
These days I'm even more passionate about budgeting being doable!
I am constantly amazed at how easily people can get on track when they discover that they have a 'financial personality'. All of a sudden they can organize their money in a way that suits their personality and that of their partners.
Let me encourage you..... YOU CAN ENJOY YOUR MONEY .... yes there are a few steps you need to take, but the the time and energy you invest in taking those steps is so much less than the cost of doing nothing.
My message is simple. If thousands of others who are were in more difficult situations than you can now be successful ... so can you.
Hi,
I'm 32y.o. married to the 39y.o. We have a 2y.o. daughter and another on the way. We both work full-time. DD attends a church daycare.
Thanks to the Money magazine, I discovered this forum and I'm glad I did since I'm surrounded by people who consume, consume, and consume some more. I do not to do that so I'm glad there are more the same minded people .
