New here - Going to be putting up my first post shortly, will be looking for advice on a real estate situation we're facing having to do with Rental properties and/or paying off a home.

My First Time
Hi everyone,
This is the first forum that I ever joined. I hope that I can learn from others about what they've gone and are going through financially. I also want to impart advice based on my own history as a bill collector (retired) and my experience as a debtor.

Hi everyone-
I found this forum today and signed right up.
I live in north-western Pennsylvania with my working wife and 2 young sons. I'm a miser by nature, so by living frugally I have no debt and a few nest eggs for retirement, college, next house & car, etc.
People tell me I might be taking the savings bit too far, so I'm always seeking to 'benchmark' my habits against others. I'd love to compare notes with friends and co-workers, but money talk tends to be taboo in our society, so I'm hoping this anonymous forum will help to fill that need.Last edited by skibo; 07-25-2007, 08:42 PM.

Welcome Skibo: You're in good company. I'd say that most of us here have heard the same comments from others as you. These are the same people who are living for today, for tomorrow they may die idealists. They probably aren't saving as you have and have credit card debt. Forums like this identify us with like minded people. We encourage one another.

Exciting
Well, while my first posts were just to offer unbiased advice and definitely about saving money, I'm thrilled to see all the great advice some of you are offering about other money-saving tips.
What a great forum. Hopefully I'll glean a few kernels of knowledge from the nut stores here. :-) hehe.
I'm honestly just excited to be in a position to actually save money for the first time in my life and now there's this great tool to direct me in the right path.
Btw, I'm Kate. I'm recently divorced. Recently graduated with my Master's degree. Mommy to 3 feline kids. And happier than I've ever been before.
Thanks!

Hello, I'm little_earth and new to this forum, but not new to forums in general. I found my way here from a blog that linked someone's post and I found that blog via another forum I'm on. I figured since I'm already blogging about my personal finance journey (with debt), I should begin to look at the whole picture to include savings. I'm not very good with savings. I spent many years having the minimum in my savings account at my credit union. I look forward to learning more, reading all the advice and stories of others and their journey's to save.
