          Hello All,

My name is Bryan, I am a freshly graduated Engineer from Spring, Texas. I'll cut to the chase. I know how important is to save money, and I have done the following so far:

          1. Once I graduated college and started a real job, I continued to pay myself my internship salary which is rougly half us much as I make now. I save the rest.

          2. 15% of my income is in the company's 401K.

          3. I over balance my check book ( if I spend $7 I write down $10).

I do plan to take some of the contributions out of my 401K and start an IRA of sorts so that I have money in Tax Deferred, and Post Tax accounts.

I am happy to have found a site such as this. I look forward to reading and recieving tips on how to better save and use my money wisely.

Ultimately, I would like to get to where my assets will pay me enough to where I don't have to work anymore.

I'm rather new to conscious money saving, though I've never been extravagant. I need to save a lot of money now because I had to move from a good-paying job in DC, to an ok-paying job in Pittsburgh. I thought the cost of living in Pittsburgh would be lower (cost of living surveys even back up this assumption), but it's just not been true for me. Aside from a much cheaper house, I have to pay a ton more in property tax, all my utility bills are higher, I have to drive almost half an hour to a decent store, all the hills are killing my gas mileage (and wearing down my car), no "professionals" here seem to know what they're doing (which has cost me a ton of money), and generally everything but gas seems to be priced higher (and gas is only about 10 cents cheaper here).

As you can probably tell, I'm pretty bitter about it, and really want to move out of here as quickly as possible. But, due to my circumstances, I'm stuck here for at least 5 years, so I decided I better learn to at least save some serious money so I'm able to get out of here and back into a better situation when I'm able to.

I'm mostly into eeking out as much savings out of my car as possible through doing my own maintenance, modifications, and altering my driving techniques to save gas mileage (hypermiling).

Hello, my name is Amy I am 28, married have a 22 month old son, 13 year old step son and a 17 year old step daughter and live in Indiana.
I am new to all this saving, and becoming more financial stable. 2007 has to be a new year for us and stop the pay check to pay check routine.

I hope to learn alot of Frugal tips and am willing to try anything at this point.

Hi! Been looking at the blogs, forum, and website for awhile and finally took the plunge to join up, learn, and ask my own questions.

My name is Donna (a.k.a. trillium). 31 yrs old, married, two cats, no kids, mortgage and debt (which is why I am here).

I've been a reader of Dave Ramsey for quite a period of time, but finally got fed up at the beginning of this year with the bills that keep stacking up and never seem to shrink. For those familiar with the Ramsey baby-steps... baby-step 1 is done, and on to baby-step2. I built my first zero-budget yesterday for my next paycheck (starting in Feb), and am hoping that with support and reading people's success stories I can stick with it.
