My husband and I received our first doses of Moderna this weekend through a mass vaccination site. It was held at a community hospital and staffed by a mix of hospital staff, as well as police/fire, both career and volunteer. I was very impressed, and overjoyed!! We expected chaos, but it was exactly the opposite. It had a very logical progression, there were no delays, and the staff were wonderful--they were running a very tight ship. Bonus: We are automatically enrolled for the 2nd dose when they do it again in a month.

We are near the completion of our original PLAN A, which was to listen to good medical advice, avoid getting sick by wearing masks and distancing, and to take the vaccine when it becomes available.
    History will judge the complicit.

That's all we can all do. Follow the science, do the right things, and get the vaccine.

I'm glad you had a good experience. I've heard many similar reports from the mass vaccination sites. They must be doing something right to be vaccinating close to 3 million/day.

The science that was invented in March 2020 that turned out to be a farce?

Refreshing to see all sides. All I see & hear is mask up, distancing (ie, 6 feet, now 3 feet is fine in schools), shut down, reopen 15%, 25%, 50%, etc.

Show me data to the contrary and I’ll delete it.

Ive come to the conclusion that people just like being told what to do. Very few people think for themselves anymore. People pick teams and they can never be convinced otherwise. Most people cant swallow their pride. How often does someone ever admit that they were wrong?

The facts are out. This plague wasnt the global killer that mainstream wanted. Covid is not a death sentence like we were told in the beginning. Dont be afraid people. Turn the news off. Do what we do...watch more of the food network

I’m not quite as skeptical. Early on, we had no idea what we were dealing with. Take one for the team and trust the officials. COVID is bad, bad stuff. I know of several who died. So in the interest of national public health, and an unknown virus, I could understand the draconian measures, to a point.

Certainly, Texas and many other states were gambling by opening up so soon. It was a calculated risk. They didn’t have good data to rely on last summer.

Yet as it turned out, their trend lines were in step with the lockdown states. So they took a gamble and it turned out, the results were in their favor.

What is shocking is that sheeple are still marching to the lockdown / mask-up drum , when we all now have plenty of data that proves it didn’t make any measurable difference. Obstinacy isn’t a virtue.

And even assuming briefly that the measures did work, we used to live in a country where we has the freedom to use personal judgement and responsibility in our choices. If I choose to take a run through the south side of Chicago after dark, that should be my right. If I choose to eat 3 pounds of Oreos for breakfast each day, that should be my right.

I am not a proponent of big government telling me when I can go shopping, what I have to wear over my face, what I should eat, what my healthcare plan benefits should be, how much money I should make, how much free money I should get sprinkled on me, whether to forgive my loans, etc.

                        This is sick-o.

what I have to wear over my face
The problem is you are conflating two very different issues here. If you want to jog through a dangerous neighborhood or gorge on unhealthy food, you alone suffer the consequences. Go right ahead. I've got no problem with that. I may think you're stupid but it's your right to do as you please as long as you aren't hurting anyone else.

If, however, you and a bunch of like-minded folks decide they don't want to wear masks during a pandemic, you are putting everyone around you at risk. You don't have the right to do that.

The analogy isn’t perfect, and as I stated, it was assuming for a moment that lockdown/mask-up measures were effective. Which they weren’t and aren’t. The data is clear.

I have resisted commenting on the original comment because the only thing that came to mind with "farce invented in March 2020" was hydroxychloroquine, injecting bleach and the suggestion that COVID virus would go away by April (2020). (And, then repeatedly claimed that it would go away by itself over the next several months).

Or, maybe the most recent quote from a certain someone in response to the latest piece on CNN regarding the pandemic, "....which I fortunately almost always overturned" (everything Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx recommended).

But, this pandemic is not over, yet. I'm glad Texas (and MS) rates have gone down. I hope that trend continues to go down to zero ASAP.

                              • Also, in terms of dealing with COVID--no other country has lost as many people. The USA (at this point in time) accounts for roughly 20% of all the COVID deaths world wide.
