You're nit-picking a really meaningless point here, and trying to sow the same doubt, false accusations, and fear-mongering, using all the telltale buzzwords. "They" and "ruling class" and "elite". Yawn. Biden didn't wear a mask in Jimmy Carter's living room, his own home, where everyone was vaccinated? Nobody cares. And the CDC agrees it was safe to do so.

When the aristocrats do their own deal and force us to do something else, it's always supposed to be meaningless and trivial.

Reminds me a lot of Putin. I watched an interview with him last night, and he was being quizzed on the couple he had poisoned in London. Of course he said "there is no proof", but then he also followed up with (paraphrase) "why are we bickering about 2 lives? They aren't worth 5 cents" (or whatever the Russian word for "cent" is). Pelosi, Whitmer, Kamala, Kerry, Newsom, Biden. The libs all have these decrees, but they and their friends are above the decrees. Typical.

I'm not seeing this specific point because I don't think it exists. The CDC guidance is clear and no, I see no issue with the vaccinated Bidens and the vaccinated Carters in the Carter's personal living room. Biden's mandate for federal buildings doesn't seem to apply here. If it did, and he ignored it, of all the things a sitting President has claimed to be personal privilege over established law, this literally doesn't matter. But again, to the letter of existing guidance from the CDC, I don't see how he's wrong here.

Yes, correct. Vaccines are slowing down because of apathy because there is no incentive to get a vaccine, as people still have to act unvaccinated. I employ 47 people - I have a decent idea of the sentiment. State run media would never admit this for obvious reasons, so they are citing "fear." The message from state run media is that those who aren't getting vaccinated are a bunch of deplorable, backwoods Trumpers.

No one who works for me has expressed "fear", though admittedly maybe a few are.

When the rules change and people can act vaccinated, they'll get vaccinated. Save for that, I think we will stall out on vaccinations with maybe half or a little more completely vaccinated.

How is it "interesting"? I think it's incredibly sad. But, since all you do is bad-mouth the government, the CDC, and anyone trying to do anything to get us out of this pandemic, I'm not surprised. Maybe you should try waking up on the other side of the bed. What if the media is reporting a current event, and not an agenda? Seems more likely here.

You keep saying this but I still don't know what it means other than having to wear a mask in certain situations.

I am fully vaccinated. My wife is fully vaccinated. Before that was true, we did not enter my mother's apartment building. We did not fly. We did not see friends in person without masks and only outdoors. My wife didn't go inside any stores (I still went grocery shopping).

Now that we are fully vaccinated, we visit my mom in her apartment without masks. I have flown twice. My wife has flown once and will fly again tomorrow. For the past year she and her friends have been playing Mah Jong virtually but once they were all vaccinated they went back to playing in person, indoors, without masks. We went out to dinner with 2 other couples week before last. Our synagogue reopened for in person services a few weeks ago.

I could go on and on but the point is that we are certainly not acting like we were before we got vaccinated. We've largely resumed most activities. The only thing I can think of that we haven't done yet is eat indoors at a restaurant.

UA_Guy, the specifics aside, I think Texas's larger point is that the ruling class in the US is riddled with hypocrisy. That's a broader point that has some merit.

Well, you're right in that its far afield from personal finance, or saving money - and it might explain why some people don't want to get vaccinated. It speaks to a lack of trust.

53 percent of those polled do not trust the political news they are getting from the media. Another 14 percent aren't sure, leaving a confidence percentage of 33 percent.

Looking at the graphic provided in the WSJ article it appears that the vaccine has had a significant impact on states that have had significant outbreaks of the disease.
