Greetings all!

I am a 30-year-old lawyer and my husband is 32 and an engineer. Foolishly we never had the money talk before seriously dating but it worked out fine, as we discovered that we're both frugal ... although I'm probably more frugal than he is. I knew he was a keeper when he was courting me and said that one day he wanted a wife to handle his finances and just give him a small allowance every pay day. That's exactly what we do now and we love it!

We spent less than $1,000 on our intimate wedding, including photos, attire, dinner afterwards with our guests. I was bound and determined not to spend much on our wedding, since I always read that money is the #1 cause of marital strife. I didn't want to set ourselves up for trouble unnecessarily. I'm rather obsessive about our spreadsheets predicting our future finances and I update it at least once a day based on grocery purchases and online banking. There's worse things to be addicted to, right?

I posted my first thread in the personal finance forum the other day, before finding this thread. Looking forward to reading through all the good advice here!

My name is Lisa and I live in Winston-Salem, NC. My husband and I are currently working on a spending journal app for the iPhone to help people track what they are spending so that they can see where they can save money. We used this program for about 2 years with great success before we decided to try to get it out to other people.

Self Introduction

I'm ella and I'm really interested to learn being frugal from this site. Honestly, I both have sick parents and a studying sister. I am still learning how to balance everything in my budget. I still need to support them and I can't leave them in vain. Thus, all of financial matters are relies on my hand, even managing their own source of income. I am hoping that the tips you could share for me will help me in my current budget situation and hope to apply it in my future coz sooner I'll be building my own family as well.
