I love when you find stuff like that, where they are literally selling money for less than it’s worth. Nice find.

Here's a little one that was fun for me. At a thrift store today I paid $2.17, tax included, for a coin collector's folding portfolio for state quarters. Inside were $10.25 worth of quarters.

The 2025 health insurance rates came out a few days ago. Our plan will only be going up by $51.72/month for medical and $1.92/month for dental for a total increase of $53.64/mo or $643.68/yr. I'm okay with that. I have seen some posts of people getting hit with much larger increases. I'm counting it as a win that our increase will be pretty modest.

I have a few wins going right now ... But the most unexpected was when my BIL (with whose family my wife/kids have been staying while DW studied for her licensing exam) sent me $1000 out of the blue!
Turns out that my wife has been pretty active selling a variety of things on FB Marketplace before moving out of our house. But we don't have many easy/convenient options for depositing cash, so she handed her brother the cash to deposit, and he sent me all of her "winnings" .... Very happy surprise, especially in a high-expense month with my family (finally, 1.5yrs later) traveling to Japan to live with me out here.
I brought up another win elsewhere, but a big/important one was that we got our previous house under contract with a buyer, which is a huge relief to start getting that chapter winding down to a close.

So we paid our school taxes months ago. Today, we received a check for $57 back. Apparently everyone in the area was overcharged, hence the check.Last edited by EasyMoney00; 11-05-2024, 04:06 PM.

One of the first china sets I sold to Replacements back in July was a set from Rosenthal. I had 2 covered vegetable bowls and they would only buy 1 for $25. I've held onto the other and checked periodically if they were buying it again but they weren't... until today. They are now buying it for $90, 3-1/2 times what they paid me for the other one. Gotta love supply and demand. $90 is actually more than I paid for the entire set originally. I already sold them most of the set for $682.50 back in July and sold one piece on ebay for $38 so that brings my total on the set to $810.50 and I've still got a few pieces listed on ebay. My cost was $73.

Guys
I totally went to Fred Meyer (my local Kroger brand store) and used a coupon for $10 off a $50 order. I now have a nice ten dollar bill in my wallet. This is a nice little win.

So cool! I purged another two boxes of stuff in the garage and I'm donating them to goodwill. I also disposed off at the firestation a sharps box.Originally posted by Fishindude77 View PostFollow up on the pumpkin harvest. Total pick was 689 near as we could count.
Kept a few for holiday decor, but otherwise gave every one of them away. Towards the end I was setting them out by the road with a "free pumpkins" sign and that got rid of the last of them.
Took the sign down today and we are out of the pumpkin business for this year. Hope we made a bunch of kids happy.

How do they know how much to give back to you? I ask because I am guessing to do this, you would have to document what you spent on gas. Do any of us actually keep gas purchase receipts for 8 years or more?Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostPossible win for California residents but probably only chump change and not worth my time.

Wow, bumper crop of pumpkins !
We always put out a big pumpkin patch behind the house to share with friends & neighbors. Started picking this morning and thus far have picked about 300 and looks like we're only about about halfway there. Had to take a break, it's hard physical work.
A nice range of the traditional Jacko lantern size from about 10" diameter up to 18" diameter, bunch of the white ornamentals and a couple dozen Atlantic Giants, biggest of which is about 36" tall and probably 100 lbs or more.
Lucked out and had ideal growing conditions this year with rains almost weekly. Also put up a temporary fence which kept the deer out for the most part.
Should make a lot of kids happy.
Makes us feel good giving them away too.
