2018 Decluttering Thread

I sold a couch and a loveseat today. An important step in our downsizing!

I shipped 2 ebay items today. I took 2 boxes of stuff to Goodwill (which is in the same shopping center as the post office).

I also started 2 ebay auctions, which doesn't really count as decluttering until the items sell, but it's a step in the right direction.

We had a party to go to yesterday afternoon so I didn't do too much but I did spend a few minutes in the garage and gathered several old board games that we haven't used for years. Those will get donated. I found a shoe box full of old cassette tapes that will get trashed. In the basement, I trashed a stack of old books that were not in good enough condition to sell or donate. I also tossed out a couple of other little things.

The more I do, the more I want to do, which I suppose is a good thing.

I also had to go into our hall closet to get batteries for my mouse and realize how messy it is in there. As we're coming into the cooler months and that's where all of our cold weather gear is (gloves, scarves, hats), I need to make time to go through all of that. I'll need DW and DD's help there as I'm not sure what items they use and if there are any they can part with.

I had 2 buyers send offers on ebay items tonight and I accepted both. Both offers were for my starting bid which I was certainly fine with. One item is a stack of 20 old magazines. The other is a couple of collectible Disney pins. So a bunch of stuff leaving the house and $23 minus fees coming in. I'll take that.

Wife sold a bamboo screen for $10 bucks - less clutter, more money.

I gave away 27 egg cartons which had been accumulating on a kitchen shelf. Gave them to a chicken rescuer!

Looked at my list of Goodwill donations, and see that they are far fewer this year than the several previous years. But I did take two boxes in on Saturday and have another half full.

Our garage really needs attention again. I need to sort and stack the clay and plastic flower pots I've been given. I never turn down flower pots because I start a lot from seed and have a lot of garden to fill. But people usually give them to me when I'm working in the garden, so I just sling it anywhere in the garage.

I sold another item on ebay today. Just waiting on payment. I just packed up the 2 items I sold yesterday and will get them to the post office tomorrow afternoon.

I guess I need to find some time to list more items. My ebay sales are going quite well. I'm just over $250 in sales in the past 60 days.

I dropped the price on 6 current ebay items.

Other day I shipped out a toy for eBay sale, donated the last remaining t-shirts and jeans that were getting tight. Cleared out some outdated financial paperwork in my file cabinet. And during my lunch today I just sold my rollerblades on CL i outgrew.

Now that I'm renting a bedroom, I really don't have much of anything to clear up.

Sold two items on eBay in the last couple days. I loaded my van with three boxes of stuff for donation. Now I need to remember it's in there and get it dropped off!

Today I dropped off the items I loaded in my van yesterday. I also added five canvases, two wall hangings, a three drawer organizer and two artificial plants. I have a potential buyer on a patio set we need to let go of. Will post more furniture this weekend.

Sold BOTH of our patio sets this morning. One was in really bad shape, but I marketed it as needing a makeover and that is exactly what this woman is going to do. I fear it will take a lot of spray paint! The downsize is really happening.

I guess this counts as decluttering. My wife is out of town for a few days and I’m surprising her by getting rid of our fish tank. We haven’t actually had fish in it for a while and she’s been wanting it gone.

I’m also doing a very thorough bathroom cleaning but that isn’t eliminating any clutter.

Congrats! I finally exceed the 2018 goal. Not sure the exact number but I believe we are at 2100+. It definitely helps to be moving AND downsizing at the same time.
