I got a bid on one of my ebay items so that will be leaving the house by the end of the week. It's actually a decent size box so will free up some shelf space in the basement.

Great job but I can’t help but wonder if your son actually wants all of those things.Originally posted by comicguy View PostSome more stuff has left the houseSteve

Yes, this is stuff he actually wants (at least for now) for some projects that he has going on at his house. He has a "working lab" at his house so a lot of the stuff will actually be used, of course his fiance not so happy about the working lab, but as she said, at least it is all kept upstairs. He does a lot of 3D designing/modeling and 3 D printing plus some electronics work as a side from his regular job.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostGreat job but I can’t help but wonder if your son actually wants all of those things.
He has told me some of the stuff can be donated/trashed so we have been getting rid of "his junk". It is amazing what is now considered junk when he now has his own place

Finally decided to enter * gulp * the dreaded storage room today and wow, i hadn't realised how many boxes i still have from my last move that are still chock full of...stuff. Time to sort through this stuff, methinks. After moving so much these last few years i'm pretty dedicated to the 'less is more' lifestyle these days and it feels gooooood. Now, i wonder if any of this stuff might fetch a pretty penny on ebay. Fingers crossed!

My wife decided she wanted a bar area in our sitting room, so we basically got that set up a couple of weeks ago. Of course, she isn't happy with it the way it is and wants to rearrange the room. The good part of that is that today it involved decluttering. We have a sectional set of shelving in there filled with various collectibles and decorative items and she decided it was time to thin the herd, which was totally fine with me. One item went in the trash. 6 or 7 items got packed for donation. Two things that aren't ours but we can't get rid of (they belong to my mom) went into a basement storage closet. And 4 or 5 things got added to my ebay pile. I'm working on listing a couple of them right now.
Two of the ebay items are things that I know we have the original boxes for but it is way too hot here for me to spend any time in the garage or attic looking for them. So I'll park those for cooler weather. I know they will sell better and be easier and safer to ship if I can locate the boxes.
I was also just in the basement to take some photos for ebay and while I was down there, got a few more things in the trash and found a few others that need to go on ebay.Steve

While I'm not decluttering on the scale that you guys are, I have come to the conclusion that I actually have enough stuff in my sewing room with the exception of thread, that I can happily keep busy crafting for the next 50 years. Considering I'm already in my 60's, that isn't going to happen. I have found so many neat things at thrifts stores in the last few years that pretty much any needlecraft that I have ever wanted to do, I have the equipment. I even found a beginners tatting kit on one of my last forays.
NOT bringing stuff into the house is as good as getting rid of it isn't it?
But before I can go lock myself in the sewing room for the rest of my life, I do have to bind a baby quilt for my little princess. Her folks are visiting this week and I want to send it home with them so they have it when she is born. Their being here means that a lot of baby stuff that I have collected since Easter will be going out of the house as well. Their Christmas/New Years visit got cancelled due to the awful snow and I haven't seen them in almost a year!

Over the weekend, I listed 11 issues of an old collector magazine on ebay. Someone message me asking for the combined shipping price if he bought them all. I wrote back and he just made the purchase of all 11! I just need to find a good shipping box and I'll get those out tomorrow. And I made about $30 on the sale.Steve

I listed 2 items on ebay. I'd like to shoot for listing 1 or 2 items a day 5 days a week (the days I don't work 12 hours). That should get me some decent sales without getting overwhelming.
I also packed up the magazines I sold yesterday. I'll get them to the post office on Friday morning.
Hopefully I'll get to spend a little more time in the basement tonight.Steve

I just listed 2 items on ebay. They are small items but if they sell, it's still items out of the house and money in my pocket. Plus, I have duplicates of both of them so if they attract attention, I can likely sell the others.Steve
