  • I've had a lot of wins recently.

I got 35 items picked up at consignment today. Big deal because whatever doesn't sell gets donated. Whatever was passed over I donated. So in all i disposed of like 6 boxes of stuff so around 100 pieces of stuff easily. I also did a goodwill run already on Sunday of 3 bags and 2 boxes of stuff. My DH said "LAL you are boiling the ocean, please try to do something". He admitted I boiled the ocean and got through something.

So over the past 3 months we had a bit of a tiff over the amount of stuff in the pantry and freezer. I stopped cold turkey buying stuff. Nothing for the freezer, nothing for the pantry unless absolutely we ran out. And now one of our freezers is empty and the other one is so empty the kids said woah the freezer is empty. I also pulled out items from the pantry last week and ate it. I ate a bunch of stuff these past two weeks from the freezer. I have a plan for four more items from the pantry by Sunday. Win is not spending money and eating what we have.

Seriously I know what I just said sounds stupid but it's really stressful sometimes in our space to use it efficiently and I get overwhelmed with the amount of stuff we have jammed into a smaller space for four people. I also gave away 2 dressers and 2 file cabinets today. Our house is finally appearing again.

Financial wins? Checked my airline tickets and saved another $300 by rebuying them. I checked the hotels and saved another $500 for our trip to Japan in August. I managed to use the first class upgrade coupons we had on two different flights. Means I got free value from them. Sometimes they go to waste and we can't use it.

I do CC arbitage and charge and leave the money sitting in the money market for an extra 60 days. Like paying for our new paint job on the house. It's not due until September and I paid it in July. I know it's like an extra $80 but it's something. I do it with all big ticket items along with earning points for CC charges.

Also sometimes like last month I earned an extra $3 from charging shake shack on my CC. All these little freebies are nice adding up.

    • We get notified of class action lawsuits all the time. My wife just got one today. Most of the time they don't amount to anything, but every now and then they do. Also in today's mail I got a check from one for $178.81. It was a case involving a medical supply company that I deal with. I have no idea what the issue was and don't really care. It was nice getting an unexpected check though.

        • Guys,

Here are a couple of wins.

First, the income investing strategy I've been working over the past couple of years is starting to pay off. This week I got paid from my bond fund (BND), from the JP Morgan option fund I've got (JEPQ), as well as from Antero Midstream (AM). Its nice to have the cash coming in on a regular and semi-regular basis. The payments are small - like $15 and $20 each, but its starting to add up.

Second, I've managed to get in the habit of doing push ups and sit up everyday. Which is having a good impact on my self confidence and my energy.

Sharing for everyone who feels stuck or doesn't feel like they're moving forward - even small steps move the needle eventually.

          • Produce for the win !
Our little garden is spitting out; cherry tomatoes, roma tomatoes, big boy tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans like crazy lately.
Hard to beat good summertime fresh veggies.

Are you personally able to use everything you're growing? Are you giving away or selling any of it? Canning? Making pickles and/or sauces? I know a bunch of people who garden and grow way more than they can possibly use.
