Well it's true for the spider and the slipper story, but yes, I totally disagree too. There doesn't have to be a loser to be a winner. That's actually a rather sad mindset.Originally posted by phantom View PostWow, do I disagree with that. Giving always makes me feel like a winner, but so does receiving.Steve

Wow, we're really getting philosophical here.
I think it's more to make you think about other people's losses when you win, eg you get the job - that's great, but all those other applicants didn't.
Whether or not I agree with her philosophies, I do like her books! Haven't had time for a good read in a while though...

Groupon had a promotion this weekend to get $10 off your next purchase.
I browsed the local restaurant offerings and a British fish and chip place that we like has a deal to get $30 worth of food for $16. I applied the promo code to knock off the $10 and ended up with a voucher good for $30 worth of food for $6. That will make a nice dinner out for my wife and I sometime soon.Steve

Thanks. I discovered last night that DH had an account and I logged in and did the WEEKEND deal. But I struggled to find a deal I really wanted to do. None of the restaurants we go to were on there, and most of the ones that were just not convenient locations for our typical routine. Considered doing the Smith Island cake deal, but ended up doing a deal for a local pizza shop. Will end up with pizza & wings for $7, which we will make a dinner out of after soccer one night.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostToday and tomorrow there is a promo to get 50% off a deal up to $25 max discount. I am not well versed on the site so not sure I understand this current deal.
The deal I got yesterday was $17 for $27 worth of food, minus the $10 promo. Would that same deal be $8.50 today?

Yes, I believe so. It is 50% off the regular price up to a maximum discount of $25. So a $17 deal would be $8.50. In that case, the $10 promo was a better deal. Of course, had the deal been more expensive the 50% would end up being the better savings. For example, last night my wife and I were looking at a bartending class that is $49/person. I might buy that today as I'd get $24.50 off. Yesterday I would have only saved $10.Originally posted by StormRichards View PostWill end up with pizza & wings for $7, which we will make a dinner out of after soccer one night.
