There is a particular injectable medication that I purchase privately through my professional account to administer to a family member. I've learned that the price and availability can vary wildly so I always start shopping around well before I need it.

I went to the medical supply company website on June 14. The 30ml vial was not available at all. The 25-pack of 1ml vials was available but was $292.99. Way too expensive, so I didn't buy it. I still had plenty.

I went back to the supply company website today, August 26. The 30ml vial was now available for $161.68, so considerably less than I would have paid for 25 1ml vials 2 months ago. However, they still had that 25-pack of 1ml vials but today, the price had dropped from $292.99 to $39.82. I have no clue why the price changed that much but I jumped on that deal and ordered a box.

$39.82 for the exact same product that would have cost me $292.99 in June. I'll take that win for sure.

A mildly confusing "found money" situation ... I got a letter today from an old bank... It said that I was due a reduction in interest rate & refund of interest/fees on an old credit card that I'm pretty sure was closed by the bank years back for inactivity... And I definitely know that I never paid them a dollar of interest, let alone the $54.xx that they included as a check. Oh well, no complaints I guess... Though I'll have to double check my credit report to ensure that the card actually is closed.

Guys - I'm posting several wins today.

First, I made it of the house for a run, and on my run I also found about five great books in a box by the side of the street. The books were in good condition. So, I can totally sell them for some extra money.

And, there was a bit left in my checking account after I paid some bills, so I threw in a bit to my kids 529 plan.

All in all it was a pretty good afternoon.

I know disneysteve will ask so how much was I able to return home with? Just before getting this win, I was in for $500 at that point. I cashed out $800, then played another $100. So I returned home with a net $200 profit. Actually before returning home I went to Tijuana for entertainment and spent that $200 but I consider it as free entertainment.

Two fun wins

We were in Vegas last weekend for a bachelor/ette party and my husband won $1,400 gambling. We definitely spent a lot more than that for the weekend but we were planning to anyway so this was a nice little offset.

We received a check for $1,500 in the mail for a property tax rebate. We make more than the maximum amount to qualify for the rebate so I wasn’t expecting anything this year. They must be counting 2021 income or before but not complaining!

This was the promotion yesterday that I went to play at Pauma casino. If I lost $500, they'd reimburse the $500 on a subsequent visit. It was basically a free roll for me and nothing to lose and such a good deal. I would do it again in a heartbeat if they allowed me to or any other casino as a matter of fact.

QMM....I get it that casinos can be fun...but in the long run the house always wins, so why bother playing the game at all?

Ha-ha, so true James. Those casinos were built with shiny gold-plated decor, fancy chandeliers, fancy restaurants, and mega towers with the gambling loses by its clientele.

For me as a single guy who is "over the hill" and who has saved money his entire life is looking for outlets to enjoy his remaining time on earth by using up some my money on myself and enjoy life and not save money until I die and never get to spend any of it and instead leave it all to my beneficiaries should the grim reaper come knocking at my door. One of my subordinates at work has numerous debts and has adult kids once told me why should she leave her kids an inheritance when they work and can take care of themselves. She has a good point. My financial situation is heavy to one side of the pendulum with a lot of money saved so I'm trying to swing to her side of the pendulum but not as far as she is at.

QMM....I get it that casinos can be fun...but in the long run the house always wins, so why bother playing the game at all?

I see nothing at all wrong with going to the casino, as long as you don't have a gambling addiction. We don't do it much anymore but there was a time years ago when we went pretty regularly, about once a month. Yes we lost money over time but some trips we lost, some trips we won. We got the "free" gifts from the casinos numerous times. We enjoyed the "free" drinks and "free" buffets and "free" hotel rooms. It was our part of our entertainment and travel. Ultimately there's really no difference between us spending $300 for a couple of theater tickets to see a show or taking $300 and going to the casino for a few hours. Heck, the casino comes with perks so even if we lose the whole $300 we probably come out ahead with free parking, free drinks, and free food. Maybe even a free room for the night or free tickets to their house show.

Gambling is only a problem when it's a problem for the individual who can't control themselves. For us, we were putting 25% of income into savings so what harm was there in us spending a couple hundred a month at the casino if we enjoyed it?

Got a $15 check from one of my wife's doctors. Apparently whatever copay she paid for a recent visit was more than we owed. The check doesn't come with any explanation so we have no idea which doctor it was. She can probably look in her online account and figure it out but ultimately it doesn't matter.
