    • Thought I needed to buy a new blender due to it not spinning. See that Phillips screw in the middle it was loose. Tightened it and viola, spins nicely again.

What I love about this is you saved between $60 and $400 dollars by not having to buy a new blender.

That channel lock looks like it's been through war. Mine looks new compared to that and I use it all the time.

If you're a homeowner and do not own a pair of channel lock pliers...do yourself a favor and rent.

Um...the channel locks look fine to me. That said, I'm not a metalurgical expert. Is there a flaw in the metal I'm not seeing from the photo?

I think rennigade was just saying that they look well-used. I'm sure mine look practically new in comparison but they don't get used very often.

Good job fixing the blender. It's always so satisfying when you DIY something, even something as simple as tightening a screw, especially when it prevents you from having to replace something.

              • I'm pretty handy and am able to DIY most things around the house, or at least give it a shot before buying a replacement.
It's saved me thousands over the years

My truck is due for an oil change soon. I'll be doing that myself, and it will cost less than half what a service center would charge

                • Ha-ha, all of my tools look like that from being a plumber in my previous life. The handle used to be crystal clear on that Craftsman Phillips screw driver. The black spot on the handle is ABS plastic cement pipe glue. Once it sets there is no way of getting it off anything. As for Craftsman tools, they had the best lifetime warranty where if let's say a ratchet broke just take it back to Sears and they'd replace it with a new one no questions asked. Those were the good ole days. I don't have housewive's tools where a tool might get used once and never gets used again so all her tools looks brand new. My tools all went to war as Rennigade put it, lol.

Pretty sure Ace Hardware and Lowes honor the Craftsman Warranty

Oh, they would definitely ask sometimes. It wouldn't stop them from honoring the warranty. It was just out of curiosity. We broke a Craftsman tool in theater shop one day in college. I don't remember what tool. We took it over to Sears to get a replacement and they asked, "We have to know. How did you manage to break this?"

                        • I only returned a ratchet once and they just printed out a receipt for the exchange and I was out the door. Their Diehard car battery as well was still under warranty when I returned it and they replaced it with a new one albeit prorated for the amount of time that I had it as it was still under warranty. Sears was a 1-stop shop so I'm partial to them and miss them. If I needed school clothes we went to Sears. If mom need pots and pans we went to Sears. If dad needed a lawn mower we went there. If I needed shoes we went to Sears, etc.

I researched Ace Hardware but they do not honor Craftsman tool returns. Lowe's might honor returns if they have the same exact tool to replace it with.

So you picked up a free five bucks? Why just withdraw that bad boy and buy some stock. Stock is cheap right now.

It doesn't work that way. You can't withdraw casino bonuses like that. You have to play them. For example, if they give me $50 of free play, I have to make at least $50 in bets before I can take money out.
