I would probably not be doing any non-necessary travel right now and absolutely wouldn't be cruising (and I love cruising).
Just checked; so far our flights have not been cancelled. (Whew).

That's fine, but we're still going.

My DD and I are going to Disney tomorrow and flying out on Spirit at 8:30 am. I got this email tonight:

        Hi There,

We are seeking volunteers willing to take a different flight in exchange for a Travel Voucher. Your existing itinerary will not be changed until you review alternative flights at the departure gate.

Check In to submit your bid and you will be notified if you are selected at the airport.

What the heck! What do you think this means? Over scheduled for this flight or not enough people? If they'd of given me the alternative flights in the email and not made me wait till I got to the gate, I might be interested. Hoping it's not cancelled.

That sounds more like a standard 'oversold' request, especially because they're doing the bidding process for it. If they were considering cancelling the flight, they'd likely come right out and say they're cancelling it & need to reschedule you.

As for myself... Minimal direct impact personally. A mid-April conference that one of my folks was going to attend in Bahrain is likely getting cancelled. And more broadly, we're restricted from non-essential travel overseas. But I'm wrapping up a short trip to PA right now, and flying back to SC tomorrow, and returning home to AK next week... nbd. Haven't noticed any difference in my travels, nor do I expect to.

I agree. Sounds like they’re just looking for volunteers to be bumped.

Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Panama Canal, Costa Rica.

We are going to try, thanks Disney Steve!

The airlines could not pay me enough to fly right now. Southwest has cut its fare by 50% on some flights but no thank you. My news in Los Angeles said Carnival Panorama (3000 passengers) is being held overnight at the Long Beach port for someone might have COVID-19. On the same news cast Royal Princess (4000 passengers) at San Pedro (Los Angeles port 4 miles from Long Beach port) is cancelled due to a worker having been on the Diamond Princess. The passengers were given vouchers for future use. I would not get on any plane or cruise ship at this time.

Las Vegas to Los Angeles $30 Southwest Wanna get away one-way segment. I haven't seen $30 fares in years with Southwest. More like $69 or $79 fares with Southwest.

Correction, 60% discount in fares on Southwest from the norm.

Links to the 2 cruises out of Los Angeles & Long Beach that was on the news on Saturday night. Both turned out to be just measures to stop the spreading of the virus out of an abundance of caution rather than actual diagnoses of COVID-19.

Princess cruises said it was offering $300 for passengers to get a hotel room tonight as well as a full refund on the cruise.

Flights and cruise prices are insane. Honestly if I was poor and retired or something, I'd take full advantage of all these fares and cruise prices because it's likely not to be seen in a long time.

The State Department issued an advisory today that basically says not to cruise. "U.S. citizens, particularly travelers with underlying health conditions, should not travel by cruise ship."

The hit to retirement and stock values so far has been the only personal impact. Husband's trip to India was cancelled, thank goodness, that's a win in my book. He doesn't like going anyhow. My personal concern is the mounting impact to the economy which could cool the housing market.

The first confirmed case was reported here in MN. And so it begins...

I'm scheduled to visit family in Seattle in April, but am starting to have second thoughts. I'm probably going to get covid at some point, but I don't want to become infected through travel and then potentially spread it to my elderly parents. Flights out there sure didn't get any cheaper. I booked the flight and when picking my seat, half the plane was empty.

                                History will judge the complicit.
