I re-read your post, I saw red at the first paragraph, painting the members with one broad brush that is the opposite of what I believe and that did color how I read the rest of what you wrote. I stand corrected and I apologize. Social justice is a big deal to me and I easily get my feathers ruffled when I hear buzzwords like "irresponsible" and "expecting hand outs".

Again, I overreacted, I was condescending, I was wrong and I apologize. I hope you can accept my apology.

I'm sorry you grew up poor and how great that you ended up in the 1% but you don't want to screw the poor. Thank you for that. I watched my father pull us out of poverty with 3 jobs, the Reserves and the only program we used was the GI Bill for him to go to night school and the part that let vets get mortgages with $250 down. He wanted better for his kids but reminded us that you leave the ladder in place so that those below can climb up as well and you reach back down to help.

I've been waiting for a Bernie.

What gives anyone the right to decide if I have too much money or not? I guess my offense is borne from the inference that I was fed from a silver spoon and that the government should redistribute my undeserved wealth to those who deserve it more than I do. Poppycock. I grew up poor as dirt. I joined the military to pay for college. I put in 20 years spending a lot of time away from my family and putting my life on the line for this country. That set me up to get where I am now. I spent a few years wasting all my 1% income, then found this forum and I'm back on track.

This always ends up in a circular argument. I feel I have earned every dime I make / have and I want to enjoy the benefits of MY hard work. I am also certain that their are many folks who have no savings that have worked equally as hard as I have and ended up in a different place financially. I am no better than they are just as they are no better than me.

I wish I knew the right answer to all of this. I don't. I am conservative and believe in the gov't staying out of my business. I also believe people need / deserve help and I'm more than willing to do my part. Not sure how that plays out on election day for me. I will never vote for Trump or Clinton. Empathy is something I find important in a candidate. Trump has none. Neither does Hillary. I would like to see a Sanders vs. Kasich election.

My initial inclination is to stay home on election day. But, if I don't vote for someone, then I don't feel that I have the right to complain about the direction of the country. At least if I vote, then I can at least say, "hey, I voted. I tried to make a difference."

I don't see the candidates on either side of the isle this strong or compelling this time around. The "B" team has definitely been trotted out this election cycle.

I'll vote for someone, but it will be the lesser of two evils for sure.

          Not me.
Not happy at all with a Clinton/Trump election. There is no "lesser of two evils" there.

I can't even watch the debates this year.

I still haven't heard Trump's actual solution to anything or how he would actually run anything. I hear, "It's gonna be great." Um, HOW? That question is never answered.

But then again, I have moved to North Carolina and have lived here through 2 elections so far. The president has been decided long before they even count our state's vote have even been counted!

            Trump has my vote.
I'm tired of these career politicians running the country, republican or democrat.

Bernie has never had a real job in his life. wants to raise taxes and give everyone everything for free.
Hillary is a criminal and should be behind bars.

As Lewis Black says, “A republican stands up in congress and says 'I GOT A REALLY BAD IDEA!!' and the democrat gets up and says 'AND I CAN MAKE IT ****IER!!”

I am registered in a party but I'm not voting on party lines. I'm voting for the person. Bernie is by far the most level headed person out there this go around. Only thing I don't like is free college.

And here's why: Art, music, English and teaching jobs are scarce.

I know three people who have degrees and cannot find jobs in their fields. What can you get? Teaching jobs are full. Law enforcement is not hiring. And when you factor in the debt, I am better off than them without a degree. Why? Because I am willing to work cheerfully and reliably for a paycheck.

              College is not for everyone.

And if you decide to go to college for 2, 4 or 8 years you'd better be damned sure there's something waiting for you on the other side.

There are certain actions that can cause me to lose all respect for someone. An example - casting a vote for Sarah Palin.

Voting for Trump falls into the same category.

I've heard several people on the radio this morning saying that Bernie Sanders isn't electable on a national stage. Outside of New England, he just doesn't connect with the voters.

People voting for a party, you'll be voting for Clinton.
People voting for a person, you'll be staying home on election day.

On the other side of the fence, it's looking like Trump wins the nomination, but people just aren't sure. The Republican side of the equation is a lot harder to figure out than the Democrat side.

I'm in a bit of a political quandary this year with regards to the candidates. I really don't enjoy any of them. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Trump, though, and that's political ideologies aside. I don't believe that the country should be led like a business. If one of the great "wants" is to separate business and politics in this country, I don't think plugging in one of America's gaudiest examples of commercialism to the highest position of power (ever) is the answer here.

                          Those are my thoughts also.
He's just to "old looking" to win the nomination, or the election.

Hopefully you all will find some comfort in the fact that, whoever is elected, not much will or can change. I would be happy if someone *fixed* Obamacare. And I am in the reduce costs and raise taxes *by closing loopholes* boat... We really need to take some efforts towards balancing the budget without screwing the middle class more than we already do... so Im kinda between parties. Clinton / Sanders vs Trump is a lose, lose IMO, but like I said, it wont matter much who ends up in the white house. I realize thats probably not a popular opinion, but just how I have seen things go in the past.

The strange thing is, he is getting the majority of the 29 and under vote. Go figure.

Singuy nope I know quite a few 1% supporting Bernie. I'm one of them. I don't like Hillary. I have supported Bernie from the beginning and I hate the corruption in politics. I may not support trump and wouldn't vote for him but the number of people I've meet that do is amazing. Everyone who is voting for him keeps saying they hate DC and feel like he's going to clean it up. And Bernie supporters say the same.

There is a reason why they have the biggest crowds in every state. I swear I think it's a rebellion on both sides. Very few people I think like the establishment choices presented. Bernie called himself a fringe candidate but I think he's going to surprise people today. I would have called Trump a fringe candidate last summer, turns out neither are.
