Virtual Check In

April 7th, 2020 at 03:15 PM by Penny

I have not posted since the end of December, when I restarted my blog. That sounds about right, though, I have been on the go since then. Until about 3 weeks ago when our routine life came to a screeching halt.

I have been working at home since Friday the 13th of March. Fortunately I do get paid since I have a contract. The part time job is limited, though, since it involves face to face intervention. I now conduct a few hours a week of direct intervention in the highest need...

Allstate

April 7th, 2020 at 11:37 AM by CB in the City

I downloaded Allstate's app and set myself up for the payback they are offering. Not sure how much it will be -- I am not even sure if I will get it, as I am not a monthly payer, and the program seems to be organized around monthly payments. But I went through the motions anyway. A little bit of money, even potential money, is better than no money.

I started to make cream of asparagus soup yesterday but as I got started I realized I didn't have enough asparagus to make it...

thankful

April 7th, 2020 at 03:44 AM by mumof2

I am thankful that careful budgeting...and yes we have a ways to go..but with good budgeting we are able to pay all our bills, our rent, we have enough food etc...during this time of people losing their jobs...or having the uncertainty of what the future holds...I am hoping that people learn from this and start having somewhat of a stockpile of food for at least a month or so and that they start an emergency fund so if this ever happens again it won't be so bad for so many people...I...

what do you think you will change?

April 6th, 2020 at 02:21 PM by mumof2

I know that most people need to stay at home except for essential services...but what are some of the positives and do you think that you will continue them when life gets "back to normal"

Things like takeaway, are you saving money by not eating out,I know gas is a hard one you are saving by not driving but that will change when you go back to work etc...more family time...just things like that

Since we have chronic illnesses our life really hasn't changed that much, we barely...

Uneventful Day

April 6th, 2020 at 12:44 PM by CB in the City

Yesterday was a pretty calm day. I read, watched an episode of Broadchurch, worked on my puzzle, filed and shredded papers, did a load of laundry, and communicated electronically with friends and family. I wore my new mask when I went to the laundry room, but I didn't see anyone, so I guess it was just a rehearsal.

I'm hearing that the peak is coming soon, and it is time to really stay in -- not even go to the grocery or pharmacy, unless it is a true emergency. I figure I'll...

Monster Mom Loan Payment

April 6th, 2020 at 09:15 AM by Lucky Robin

$4000.00 Balance Forward
-1000.00 Payment Made
-----------
$3000.00 New Balance

This will be all we will be paying on the loan this month. No extra even though DH is still working. We will be saving the extra we would have paid in two weeks to go into the EF. Even if life goes back to normal in May, we could be shut down again in October. The extra will be a cushion. Either way, as long as DH is working, this debt will be paid off by the end of June since May is a 3...

day trading day 5

April 5th, 2020 at 10:24 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

I didn't have margin accounts set up to do options. I applied so I'll have to wait. Either way I placed orders to open tomorrow.

I'm buying
50 shares of DXD $1600
50 shares of SDS $1500

I want to buy a put option (shorting) expedia. I think it'll drop by May 15th to $40. If I get approved I'll buy it.

I believe that will be a $1200 bet. That should be it for me for awhile. That will be $10k in stock bets I have no idea if I'll win. It will also be stocks I don't...

COVID-19 Hits Home

April 5th, 2020 at 08:21 PM by Amber

A senior cousin of mine who works in a nursing home has been diagnosed, with the COVID-19 virus. Pray fully she’ll get through this. This virus is a scary thing, and has started to hit home.

I needed a few items from the grocery store, I was running low. Just to go in and see the store marked up with tape, so that people keep a safe distance is scary.

I pray that as a nation we get through this soon

Groceries!

April 5th, 2020 at 01:51 PM by CB in the City

My local DIL did some grocery shopping for me yesterday. I paid her $60 (electronically) which was a little above the cost of the groceries. She was able to get toilet paper! I now have 12 rolls. Also a variety of other things including canned cat food. I feel I am set for a while.

She also sent with the groceries a face mask she had made and some art work from the boys. My son carried the bags over and set them down outside my door. Through the door, we said "I love...

Conversation with DS

April 4th, 2020 at 12:19 PM by CB in the City

I had a nice long conversation with my son in Oregon yesterday. His wife is still pretty much the same as far as symptoms go, but I can tell that he is feeling better about it. She is not having an experience as intense as his, but it is hanging on longer, and he is confident that she will eventually recover.

That made me feel a lot more cheerful.

I continue to stretch my food supply as much as I can. I made more enchilada sauce and reheated the wet burritos. After having...

April 4th, 2020 at 05:42 AM by mumof2

Was able to find some thin masks but they were so expensive...it cost me $54 for 20 of them and they are the thin ones like you see in the hosital...so we have enough to get him through his treatment when he goes to the hospital...but hubby is making us some better ones for when we have to go out...yes he is a great cook..a great sewer..he can do most things he was in the military...and it has given him something to focus on as he is house bound and bored...it cost us us around...

Picture is Published, on Previous Entry

April 3rd, 2020 at 03:29 PM by CB in the City

So, I did post the picture of my table. It's on my previous entry. Thanks for the help, Petunia! I'll try to remember now. Maybe post a picture every once in a while!

I got an email today about curbside service at PetSmart, which reminded me that Iggy's dry kidney care food is getting low. I tried to go through their steps, by ordering online, but the food was not available online. And the store is closed. So I decided instead to go through the vet, and they were very...

Housing and Meal Plan Refund

April 3rd, 2020 at 02:48 PM by Creditcardfree

Our youngest daughter's University has offered a 40% refund on housing and meal plans due to closing. She is living with us, but we have not yet made the trip to clean out her dorm, which currently we have until May 9 to complete.

The housing refund for the semester is $1423.80
The meal plan refund for the semester is $867.48
Total is $2,291.28

I have simply set that money aside to assist us in making the fall payments. I may not need to withdraw as much from her ESA next...
