Montreal Refund

April 15th, 2020 at 01:12 AM by terri77

I have not received my stimulus check, but my friend did Venmo me my share of the refund for our canceled event. It was about $60 less than what I paid because they apparently charged us a fee for them canceling an event. Go figure. So that was $977.20 deposited into my account today.

I am still awaiting a decision on my claim for the airline tickets. I know airlines are allowing you to rebook within a year, but I purchased travel insurance & would rather have the money. I...

My English Castle

Dribs and Mostly Drabs

April 14th, 2020 at 04:09 PM by My English Castle

Yes, it's been a strange time here, hasn't it? I have little financial news as we've done little spending.

Sunday night I ordered a few things, about a dozen I think, from Target.com. It was mostly fill-in groceries, pet food, and some toiletries. The Easter ham will be on the agenda for quite some time. What's that joke from Dorothy Parker: "Eternity is two people and a ham." There's three of us, so maybe we can outwit eternity.

We also have colored hard-boiled eggs...

Waiting for my Check

April 14th, 2020 at 03:01 PM by klarose

My job has decided to pay me a minimum of my average hours. Which is great! They even back dated it to the stay at home order. I think I will use these unexpected checks to save money for my animals.

Unfortunately with the pregnancy and everything I did not breed my goats last fall. Which means little to no kids now, which means no goat income this year. If I hurry I could still breed for fall kids, but I will need money over the summer to purchase hay for the winter. So I...

Pending Stimulus and More

April 14th, 2020 at 02:30 PM by Creditcardfree

The stimulus money is pending in our account. We are getting $2,400. Our children are over 17, so we do not get, nor do we need the extra $500 per child. We do not even need the $2,400.

We have not made any decisions on this money. I think I'm waiting to see how this plays out a bit. I do think it will get spent in some form or another, which is the point. I have quite a few ideas of things we could invest in to make us more self reliant, but may need to help our daughter or...

The days are long, and the weeks are still long...

April 14th, 2020 at 12:35 PM by Jazzy

Does anyone else feel like they've lived 157 years since early March? I'm busier than ever and not in all good ways. Between taking care of the 1 year old, the 8 month giant puppy (seriously, he's 90 lbs and counting), 3 other less-maintenance animals, working from home full-time, and being pregnant, I'm wiped out.

On top of all that, I found out that the promotion I'd been wanting for years is finally mine. It's wonderful, but the timing is terrible, and I'm really torn up...

Quiet Monday

April 14th, 2020 at 12:22 PM by CB in the City

I had a pretty quiet day yesterday. Yeah, they're all quiet, but some are more quiet than others. I washed my quilt and towels, and put the quilt away for the season. I made the cheeseburger sliders, three extra patties cooked for today. I cooked and crumbled the rest of the ground beef. It's ready for making chili, but I need more ingredients. My DIL has my list, but she is instructed (by me) not to shop until she is ready to shop for her own family. I have tuna and chicken...

Annual Egg Hunt

April 14th, 2020 at 01:21 AM by Life Balance

Stuffed eggs ready for the hunt

Our family has a tradition of a family egg hunt on Easter morning. The boys are older now and still look forward to the egg hunt because some of the eggs have money in them! It used to be mostly coins when they were small but now it’s an assortment of bills and a few are substantial. Only some eggs have money but all eggs have candy. A couple of eggs had vouchers for bigger candy items that don’t fit in an egg like a chocolate bunny. I...

$20K Update - Our Stimulus Payment is Pending

April 13th, 2020 at 08:47 PM by Banker Gurl

I checked our checking account today and the Stimulus Payment is pending. It is a little over $2000 for us, so that is exciting! For now the money will go into savings, most likely to be used for medical bills as our HSA is down to only $500 now. For now our savings have passed $13K! Once the Stimulus money shows available I will get it moved over to savings and updated in our total.

Current Balance $12,890.00

Smallsteps

trying to see brightside

April 13th, 2020 at 04:43 PM by Smallsteps

I know there are many different perspectives and perhaps reactions to the current stay at home world many of us are living in.
I just recently when logging in to my auto insurance see not only did our rate fall this time but the company we have is giving 20% off for April and May due to many not driving during this.
I am not going anywhere in my car except once a week to grocery. So it is a win I guess.

I have not had to get gas for over 3 weeks now so i am taking that...

Zoom Easter Dinner

April 13th, 2020 at 01:34 PM by CB in the City

Our Easter dinner on Zoom went great! My son went and picked up the order and delivered my portion to my door. Then we got by our computers and visited while we ate our meals. It was fun. Such a lift! It was good to see everyone.

I never got around to making those cheeseburgers sliders, so I'll do that today, as well as crumble and cook the rest of the meat.

It's also laundry day for sheets and towels.

The book I ordered on Amazon arrived yesterday, almost a week...

Went to the Grocery Store

April 13th, 2020 at 05:15 AM by Lucky Robin

Today was the first day I've been outside since April 3rd. I didn't even realize it has been that long since I only sat down to figure it out. It was too cold to work on the garden this week and I am still weak, even this many weeks after "recovering" from the flu or Covid or whatever it was I had back in early February. The more I read, the more I honestly think it was Covid.

Anyway, DH and I went to the grocery store. It was nice to get out and do a little walking around....

I was diagnosed with a fatty liver a few weeks ago so I need to change my whole diet...I actually figured out that I was making myself worse when you have chronic fatigue you have no energy...so in order to lose weight I needed energy so would eat the wrong things trying to get myself some energy which was obviously the wrong thing to do...my doc told me I needed to lose weight but when you are really dizzy, in pain and have no energy then it is extremely hard...so now my dizziness...

Finally Realizing My Worth

April 13th, 2020 at 01:15 AM by Amber

This pandemic has made me realize that I want to hit FIRE sooner than later. I was pretty much doing what I should, adding to my EF, saving for upcoming expenses, adding to my 401(k) and paying down debt. I’ve even cut expenses.

I realize my biggest obstacle is my income and fear. I’m worth so much more than I’m paid, I was always taught when you get a job you stay, take what’s offered don’t negotiate. But at 65k for the amount of work I do, and my accomplishments...

Happy Easter and Are You Planning a Garden?

April 12th, 2020 at 09:35 PM by DK62565

Happy Easter!

We watched our church's Facebook streaming service. I will say our Pastor and his helpers have done a good job trying to keep things normal and uplifting.

I haven't really had much to write about. Just the day to day stuff. We've been staying around the house like everyone else. Grumbling about the neighbors who don't follow the shelter in place orders who are running and visiting and doing whatever they darn well please.

Like many, DH has been working a...
