Before 2020, there were only two days of the year when Target closed its doors: Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. However, the retailer decided to close on Thanksgiving for the first time in 2020 to help reduce the post-holiday shopping rush during the pandemic. Customers responded so positively to this change that Target continued to close on this holiday as well.  

However, Target is open the other 362 days of the year. Most stores open their doors at 8:00 am. and don’t close until 10:00 pm. For example, it usually extends its hours till midnight in the days leading up to Christmas. So, there is a good chance they will do it again in 2024.

Based on the current holiday schedule listed on their website, Target stores will fully close on these holidays in 2024:

• Easter Sunday: March 31
• Thanksgiving Day: November 28
• Christmas Day: December 25

Additionally, its stores will have limited hours on these holidays:

• New Year’s Day: January 1 (9:00 am – 10:00 pm)
• Christmas Eve: December 24 (8:00 am – 6:00 pm)

While most Target locations follow this schedule, store hours may vary by location. And, they may decide to announce extended hours during the holiday season. Therefore, it’s best to make sure and check your local store’s hours using the store location tool so you don’t waste a trip.
