Is Target Closed on President’s Day 2022?

February 18, 2022 by Tamila McDonald

Is Target Closed on President's Day

In 2022, President’s Day falls on Monday, February 21. Since it’s a major federal holiday, many businesses shut down, giving their employees a day off. However, not everything closes in observance of President’s Day. As a result, many people aren’t sure whether they can head to their favorite retailers to do some shopping on the holiday. If you’re wondering, “Is Target closed on President’s Day 2022?” here’s what you need to know.

Is Target Closed on President’s Day 2022?

No, Target is not closed on President’s Day in 2022, and the stores aren’t using any kind of adjusted holiday schedule. Instead, Target stores will be open at their usual time and will remain open until the normal closing hour.

Does Target Have a President’s Day Sale?

Technically, Target always has a sale going, so there is one running on President’s Day. You can find deals on a variety of food products, home goods, electronics, toys, and more in the Target weekly ad.

For President’s Day discounts, you’ll need to check the weekly ad that releases on Monday, February 21, 2022. That one will be in effect from that Monday through Sunday, February 28, 2022.

Target Holiday Schedule for 2022

Overall, Target doesn’t close for most holidays, something that’s common among major retailers. However, it does shut its doors to observe a handful of holidays.

All Target stores use the same holiday schedule, one that’s set by the corporate office. As a result, all Target stores in the United States close on the same days.

Here is an overview of the Target holiday schedule for 2022:

  • Easter – Sunday, April 17, 2022 – Target stores are closed
  • Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 24, 2022 – Target stores are closed
  • Christmas Eve – Saturday, December 24, 2022 – Target stores are open but close early
  • Christmas Day – Sunday, December 25, 2022 – Target stores are closed
  • New Year’s Eve – Saturday, December 31, 2022 – Target stores are open but close early

While closing on Thanksgiving wasn’t common for Target before the pandemic, the retailer has shut down for the holiday two years in a row. While Target could reverse course in 2022, the odds of that happening may be fairly low. As a result, you may want to assume that heading to Target on Thanksgiving isn’t an option.

It’s also critical to note that there can be situations that cause Target stores to close on days other than those above. Renovations, technical issues, and utility problems can all lead to closures, at times with little notice. However, incidents such as those are rare. It’s just vital to understand that unexpected closures can happen.

2022 Target Store Hours

Target doesn’t have a single schedule that all stores are required to follow. However, most open and close at similar times.

Usually, a Target store operating schedule in 2022 is similar to the following:

  • Monday through Friday: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm
  • Saturday: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm or 11:00 pm
  • Sunday: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm

Now, there can be some stores that deviate from the norm above. While 24-hour Target locations have been incredibly rare since the pandemic, some stores that used that schedule previously may shift back to it eventually. Additionally, stores in high-traffic areas may have longer hours to accommodate the extra shoppers.

When in doubt, it’s best to use the Target store locator to see when your preferred location is open. That way, you can plan your trips accordingly.

Are you glad that heading to Target is an option on President’s Day, or would it not matter to you if the store closed for the holiday? Are you planning on taking advantage of any sales that Monday, or will you be sending the day with family and friends or doing something else? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
