Is Walmart Closed on President’s Day 2022?

February 16, 2022 by Tamila McDonald

is walmart clossed on president's day

Monday, February 21, 2022, is President’s Day in the United States. Since it’s a federal holiday, many businesses close their doors and let their employees have a day off. However, this isn’t universally true, and that can lead to some confusion. If you’re wondering, “Is Walmart closed on President’s Day 2022?” here’s what you need to know.

Is Walmart Closed on President’s Day 2022?

No, Walmart isn’t closed on President’s Day, and the retailer isn’t using reduced holiday hours. Instead, Walmart stores will open and close based on their normal Monday operating schedules.

Exactly what those hours will be may depend on your location. While many Walmart stores were 24-hour before the pandemic, most changed their approach once COVID-19 became an issue. Precisely how substantial the changes were could vary by location.

Does Walmart Have a President’s Day Sale?

Walmart actually has a sale running all of the time, including on President’s Day. While not all of the discounts are related to the holiday, they still create ample opportunities to save on household items, foods, and more.

Can You Use Walmart Pickup and Delivery on President’s Day 2022?

Yes, Walmart pickup and delivery services are running on President’s Day. If you can get a time slot, you can retrieve an order or have a delivery made on the holiday. You can also submit orders and schedule pickups or deliveries on other dates on the holiday.

Can You Shop at Walmart.com on President’s Day 2022?

Yes, you can shop at Walmart.com on President’s Day. In fact, you can head to the Walmart website every day of the year to look for products and submit orders.

However, if you were expecting an item from Walmart to arrive in the mail soon, it may not come in on President’s Day. Different shippers have unique holiday schedules. For example, the post office doesn’t run on the holiday, but some UPS and FedEx services do. So, if you’re expecting a delivery near the holiday, you’ll need to check with the shipper to determine whether it might show up on that Monday.

Are All of the Services in Walmart Locations Open on President’s Day?

Many Walmart locations have a variety of services available in-store. However, while some may be open on President’s Day, others might not. If you’re planning on using the auto care center or pharmacy, you may need to check in advance to ensure they’re open. The same goes with third-party services, such as bank branches, restaurants, and others, as they might or might not open on the holiday.

Walmart Holiday Schedule 2022

Like most retailers, Walmart doesn’t shut down often. Instead, the company keeps its doors open to ensure that shoppers can get what they need almost every day of the year.

However, there are a couple of exceptions. Here is a look at the Walmart holiday closures for 2022:

  • Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 24, 2022 – Walmart is closed
  • Christmas Eve – Saturday, December 24, 2022 – Walmart is open, but some stores close early
  • Christmas Day – Sunday, December 25, 2022 – Walmart is closed

Aside from the holidays above, Walmart is usually open using its typical operating schedule. While those hours may shift as the pandemic calms or worsens, they likely won’t change due to holidays barring the three days above.

As with many other retailers, Walmart used to be open on Thanksgiving. However, during the pandemic, Walmart decided to shut down for that holiday, giving employees the day off. While the retailer may change course when the pandemic calms, it is currently best to assume that won’t happen in 2022 unless there’s an official statement saying otherwise.

Are you glad that Walmart isn’t closed on President’s Day? Do you plan on shopping this holiday or are you going to spend the time doing something else, like enjoying the company of family or friends? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
