Thursday, November 25, 2021, is Thanksgiving. While it’s typically a day to spend with family and friends, that doesn’t mean shopping might not be part of the plan. Some people need to pick up last-minute items for Thanksgiving meals. Others may be hoping to get a jump on their holiday shopping. If you’re wondering, “Is Target open on Thanksgiving 2021?” here’s what you need to know.

Is Target Open on Thanksgiving 2021?

No, Target is not open on Thanksgiving in 2021. Many people will find this surprising. While Target did close for Thanksgiving during the pandemic, some likely assumed that was a one-off change due to unprecedented circumstances. However, Target has decided to maintain that trend, closing its doors during the holiday once again.

In fact, Target actually announced its intention to close on Thanksgiving this year back in January. Along with closing store doors, pickup and delivery options won’t be available. That way, the company’s associates can all enjoy the holiday.

Is Target.com Open on Thanksgiving?

Barring a technical issue, Target.com is always available. You can shop sales and place orders any time, including during holidays when the stores themselves are closed, including Thanksgiving.

However, same-day pickup or delivery isn’t available on Thanksgiving. Instead, the earliest you’ll be able to receive any items you order on Target.com during the holiday is Friday, November 26, 2021.

Is Target Closing Early on the Day Before Thanksgiving?

Target has not announced a broad schedule change for the day before Thanksgiving. As a result, stores will likely follow their typical operating schedule on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

The exact hours a store will open can vary depending on the location, but the typical store hours are:

  • Opening at 7:00 am or 8:00 am and closing at 8:00 pm, 9:00 pm, or 10:00 pm

It is important to note that reduced shopping hours on the day before Thanksgiving could still occur. Target may decide to institute a change, or individual locations may have a reason to alter their hours of operation. As a result, if you want to shop late on November 24, 2021, you may want to contact your local store to confirm they’ll be open.

When Does Black Friday Start at Target?

Technically, Target has been offering Black Friday level deals throughout the month of November, giving shoppers a chance to score discounts on a regular basis. However, if you’re hoping to shop the main event, exactly when that happens could vary.

While most Target stores will open at 7:00 am on Black Friday, some locations may buck that trend. As a result, you’ll want to head to the store finder and confirm when your preferred store is open or contact it directly to find out when they’ll open their doors.

Online deals may be available earlier. Once the Black Friday ad is released by Target, it’ll outline exactly when certain discounts will happen, allowing you to prepare for the major shopping event with greater ease.

Is There a Holiday Price Match Guarantee?

Target is offering a holiday price match guarantee. Any purchases made at Target between October 10, 2021, and December 24, 2021, can qualify for price adjustments if the Target price falls any time before Christmas Eve. However, exclusions can apply, so you’ll want to review the policy carefully to see if your purchases are eligible for price adjustments.

Target Holiday Schedule 2021

Most major retailers open as often as possible, typically welcoming customers on most federal holidays. However, that doesn’t mean they don’t close for specific occasions.

By and large, Target is more commonly open on holidays than it is closed. Generally speaking, there are only a few exceptions. Here is a look at the complete 2021 Target holiday schedule:

  • Easter – Sunday, April 4, 2021
  • Thanksgiving – Thursday, November 25, 2021
  • Christmas – Saturday, December 25, 2021

It is important to note that Target stores may close early on the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. As a result, if you plan to shop on those days, you may want to contact your local store to confirm when customers are able to shop.

Is shopping part of your typical Thanksgiving Day plan? If so, are you disappointed that Target isn’t open on the holiday? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
