Choosing a Mother’s Day gift on a budget can be a challenge. Luckily, you can still get some of the hottest options available without breaking the bank.
Plantable Greeting Cards
If you want to give your mother the gift of flowers without spending a small fortune on a bouquet, consider a plantable greeting card. The card is embedded with flower seeds and otherwise completely biodegradable.
After she enjoys the sweet message in the card, she can simply plant it in her garden or a suitable pot. Then, she’ll get to enjoy the blooms for much longer than even the highest quality bouquets will survive.
If you want to help her bring those flowers indoors, consider adding a caterpillar bud vase. You can find them for around $20. That way, she can pick the nicest ones and display them inside.

Framed Photograph
If you already have a great photo of the two of your together, consider printing it out and framing it. You can easily find smaller frames, like a 4 x 6 or 5 x 7, for less than $20 in a variety of styles.
Plus, getting a digital photo printed is a breeze, even if you don’t have a printer. Big-box retailers like Walmart have easy-to-use kiosks that often let you do simple edits, like cropping. And a single 4 x 6 may only cost you 25 cents.
Bath Bombs
Bath bombs are all the rage and make a great stress-relieving gift for busy moms. You can find them at large retailers, bath-focused specialty chains, and even smaller stores.
The price per bath bomb can vary. In some cases, you can find a pack of eight mass-produced ones for less than $5. Just dress them up with a prettier container, and you have a great gift.
Customized Grocery Tote
For the eco-conscious mom, consider a fun reusable grocery tote. Look for sturdy canvas bags featuring quirky prints or inspiring sayings that speak to her personality.
Customized Journal
If you don’t mind a little do-it-yourself activity, consider creating a customized journal. All you need to do is take a traditional notebook with a sturdy cover, like Moleskine, and adhere origami paper to the surface using Mod Podge.
Origami paper is available in a range of colors, prints, and finishes, so you should be able to find some that will suit anyone’s style.
And, for a personal touch, consider adding a handwritten note on the first page. That way, you can tell her how much you appreciate her in a form she’ll cherish for years.
Homemade Brunch
If you’re handy in the kitchen, consider cooking your mom a homemade brunch. Include items like fresh cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, and fun flower power sunny-side eggs.
All of the options listed above are fairly low cost, making them easy to work into any budget. Plus, you can add personal touches to quickly make each of these gifts even more special.
