Spent 1200 dollars on new bathroom fixtures, ceiling fan/vent, and shower tile.

Still need to pick up new digital thermostat, heater, and paint

Still waiting for the quote to cover new Sheetrock and new electric and new plumbing as well as prep work for shower.

$120 on MLB.TV, might be peanuts to some but a splurge to me.

Who knows, I might eventually enter an Ironman marathon/biking combo if I train even harder
I made the same discovery about 7 years ago... I grew up running all through school & college, then I somehow found myself on a road bike, and I was immediately hooked. I was enthralled by how fast you can go on a bike compared to running. I bought myself a bike, and I've been loving it ever since.

That's actually a splurge I've been considering for a little while--replacing my current bike for a newer, lighter-weight bike. But I haven't plucked up the courage to drop that kind of coin.... road bikes are expensive....

Holy crap, those must be some nice umbrellas. Mine were 70 bucks shipped. With the harsh Florida weather, I figured these are throw away items after a few years anyway. They lose their color and becomes dirty.

Main bathroom update/remodel and paying contractor friend to do most of the work since he gave me such a great deal for labor. Originally I suspected very slow leak/mold build up on the walls from the shower valve cartridge. I decided to rip out the shower, toilet, vanity/sink, and install radiant floor heating/tile for floors while tiling the shower.
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

He knows he's getting some sort of new-"er" car this summer for college. But we got him a bit newer car than perhaps we should have, and it's in storage until graduation day, May 26. So it will be a surprise.

I've got such a weakness for cars. I probably could have been rich by now had it not been for all my 4-wheeled toys. But I love cars what can I say?

I bet a lot of us could say this and just replace "cars" with whatever we all sink our money into whether it's our house, travel, collectibles, or whatever.

You've got to be responsible and take care of business and save for the future but you have to live life and enjoy the journey too. We could all have a lot more money in the bank if we stopped spending on anything that wasn't absolutely necessary, but we'd all be miserable.

I think that is why hubby was supportive of me getting the newer sewing machine. We don't go out doing things. We don't spend money going traveling, to the movies, or any other type of 'fun' things. My thing is sewing and so that is what is supported. It is what makes my life enjoyable.

Yes so true. At least I'm not spending it on crack.

A new phone. My old one broke for good, so I had to replace it. Honestly I wished I was more careful, but bad things do happen

My next big splurge is going to be that damn coin collection. I finally found out that the real cost is $23,000, not $5,000 or $10,000 or $12,000 or even the $20,000 figures he has been giving me. His parents are uncomfortable talking about money with me, so I had him call them while I was in his face and tell me immediately so he couldn't change the numbers. Thankfully, we have the cash and will get this over with after we close on our refinancing next week. I'm just happy to be done with it. The true test be when he has to sell what he doesn't want. If he doesn't start selling within 1 month after we get the collection, I'm just taking everything to a coin shop.

I had mine out under general anesthesia, but then I was in my late 30's, had an abcess starting under one of them, and none had erupted at that point. The oral surgeon wanted to get them out during a planned procedure rather than as an emergency. Afterwords the first words I heard was my mom saying the doctor thought she should take me home for the next 24 hours. Doc said they were so hard to get out he about had to stick a foot in my mouth for leverage. Unfortunately I got nerve damage anyhow and 5 months later went to Mass. General in Boston to have mircosurgery. But my face post wisdom teeth was ghastly looking. for a couple of weeks. So if the doc is concerned about any sort of odd things, that might be a good enough reason for the insurance to kick in. My ex got his wisdom teeth out by the same doc and had one of the quick acting anesthesia and was awake and raring to go and came out of the office and wanted to go yard saling. I could have kicked him. He had insisted on paying extra (money we didn't have) for the anesthesia. I was so sick after mine.

She is having something called an exposure with chain. She has a tooth growing in an odd place and they need to pull the baby tooth, dig the adult one out, and put a chain on it and attach it to the Herbst appliance so the orthodontist can gradually pull it into place. I'm a little worried as this will be the first time she has had anything more than a blood test, but I'm sure it will be fine.

my minivan. I didn't need a newer car. I also didn't need a minivan. But I wanted one so i bought one. Something I've wanted a long time and now I love it. I love the convenience of it. It really is a luxury. I realize it.

I could have stashed that $20k extra and instead kept my outback but I love what I got. Plus that $20k will grow to how much in as many years? Or a better metric is that I could retire maybe 6 months earlier. But I guess i posted earlier I wonder if it's about the journey to retirement or just getting there?

Our other big splurge was a year sabbatical. I mean we seriously just went a year of peak earning without income and instead spent down what was saved. So that brutally made us take a huge net worth hit especially selling a home and sitting out a market increase.

Sadly they're not. We bought patio furniture at a "discount" during winter. 4 chairs, round glass top table and umbrella was $1700. I believe the umbrella was $400 by itself. Yeah its nice because you can take it apart and wash the fabric...but its not that nice. Its just an umbrella.

Now the chairs on the other hand are nice. They're much more comfortable than the crap you get at lowes or whatever.
