Can we talk COVID and how it affected you financially, emotionally, physically, etc?

Guess that's what well get with the booster in the fall? Supposedly me and the family have never gotten it. I don't believe that to be true. Rather we never tested at the right time to catch ourselves having it and having had either no or mild symptoms we never knew we had it.

To complete this, the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is no longer available in the US now as well.

The bivalent vaccine is now the only one.

Good to know, thanks. At the height of COVID in Mexico all they had was the J & J shot. I guess USA was keeping Pfizer & Moderna.

The J&J one never really caught on here. Some people liked it because it was only one dose instead of two and that made it preferable in areas where follow up was an issue. But then they had a lot of concern about blood clots from it too.

I know a good handful of people who took the J&J because it wasn't mRNA, whereas Pfizer and Moderna were. J&J Ended up being less effective overall with basically the same profile of side-effects, no?

I have some quesions on this new vaccine/booster. In total I got 4 shots with the first in March 2021, and the last in May 2022. When this new shot comes out in late September or October will I need just 1 shot or will it be a series of 2 shots. And on the same day can I get this new COVID shot along with the flu shot let's say one in each arm on the same day? All of my 4 shots were Pfizer so I'm guessing I should stick w/Pfizer.

As far as I know the booster is a single dose. Getting it at the same time as the flu vaccine is fine. We did that last year with the bivalent COVID and flu shots.

I’m not sure if there’s any need to stay with Pfizer. I’d have to check on that.

Got them so I could go to Canada fishing, but otherwise would not have.

Wife and I both got it (according to home tests) and it was no more than a bad flu for a few days.

It's been a while since anyone in my circle has had Covid. A friend came down with it last week (thankfully, not one I had been around recently) and it had him down pretty hard. Next day his doc put him on Paxlovid, so I guess we'll never know how severe it could have been because his symptoms vanished after he got on the pill. Good to know it still works.

Eris? is the newly spreading variant with lots of mutations compared to Omicron. I'll get the vaccine when it's out, just like with the flu shot. It's been just a little over a year since my first and hopefully last tangle with Covid. I've also significantly improved my health since then.

Did you both get COVID after being vaccinated? If so, keep in mind that’s why it wasn’t too bad. But vaccine immunity isn’t permanent and new strains emerge. That’s why boosters matter for lots of things like flu and tetanus and COVID.

We are in a bit of a wave of COVID right now. The people I know who have COVID in the last few weeks are getting knocked down pretty hard (like, bad flu) and one woke up yesterday with zero taste and smell. My advice is to get the new booster shot (probably out late Sept) and just avoid sharing air with visibly sick people. People are now feeling sick for a while before testing positive on a rapid test (rapid test+ = can pass to others), so what happens is: 1st, develop cold symptoms, test -, say "well, it's not COVID", 2nd, go back to work and act normally (no masking) and, 3rd, then become infectious and spread to others.

What's this I hear we can order more free tests (I wish I could sell it on eBay). I'll order mine's and give it away to my friends in Tijuana. They said it's $75 a kit there and they're appreciative for it.

I hadn’t heard, though I also don’t watch the news. I hope this is widely publicized. Cases have definitely been increasing. We’re seeing at least a couple per day in urgent care.
