Didn't you see his press conference? He is president, that means he has no conflicts. What could possibly be the problem?Originally posted by LivingAlmostLarge View PostCan someone explain how Trump can say he doesn't plan on divesting himself of his companies and investments but it not be a conflict of interest? And how he's not held to the same standard previous presidents have been? Because congress is republican.

I'm not sure if it is even possible. As soon as one foreign dignitary, government employee, or lobbyist lodges at a Trump-owned hotel or resort, someone will say that is a conflict of interest. I'm curious if there is an accounting trick to prevent his enrichment from those scenarios during the next 4 (8?) years.Originally posted by LivingAlmostLarge View PostCan someone explain how Trump can say he doesn't plan on divesting himself of his companies and investments but it not be a conflict of interest? There has to be some sort of trickery or else any leak about his conflict of interest will end up with an impeachment hearing considering enrichment of the president is specifically forbidden in the constitution. SR, this is why we care about the entire conflict of interest thing..because we care about the constitution.Originally posted by JoeP View PostI'm not sure if it is even possible. If he cared about his businesses so much, then don't become the president...or just give everything to a real blind trust. Now the minute any of his sons are seen even 20 ft from any foreign ambassador will lead to an impeachment hearing...

Except it won't, because the standards and laws and Constitution were tossed out the window at noon yesterday. Hopefully, we'll be able to retrieve them on 1/20/21.Originally posted by Singuy View PostNow the minute any of his sons are seen even 20 ft from any foreign ambassador will lead to an impeachment hearing...Steve

What did you guys think about the speech? I thought Trump was going to declare Marshall Law and set a curfew to stop the "American Carnage" and to stop terrorist/crime "right now."
The poverty, the tombstones of factories, the broken roads and bridges, the crime infested inner cities...oh the HUMANITY! Perhaps I should invest in some barb wires and machine guns because I didn't know we lived in a zombie apocalypse.Last edited by Singuy; 01-21-2017, 08:17 AM.

This is from the whitehouse page about supporting the police:
" President Trump will honor our men and women in uniform and will support their mission of protecting the public. The dangerous anti-police atmosphere in America is wrong. The Trump Administration will end it."
Now I think the police are important and need our support and understanding, but that doesn't mean there aren't bad cops or incidents of injustice -- and this seems to imply that any form of protest against the police will not be tolerated.
And thus we become a police state.

That is how you interpret it because you are Anti-Trump. I don't see anything wrong with that statement. There is nothing there that in my opinion suggests that police brutality or any other form of misconduct will be ignored.Originally posted by Mjenn View PostThis is from the whitehouse page about supporting the police:

And I'm still waiting for an answer from a Trump supporter as to how he plans to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US while boosting the economy keeping prices low and giving people a living wage.

I considered Trump to be the better of two evils, but I do not consider myself a supporter.Originally posted by Mjenn View PostOk so enlighten me --- how will Trump end it

I don't have answers to either of your questions, and I really don't want to spend my time speculating on all of the issues that have people in a tizzy. End of November early December, Singuy made a comment about something Trump needed to do to calm the masses. He did it yet Singuy still spends time every day complaining about Trump.
I am of the belief that even if Trump did every thing his haters wanted him to do, they would just keep adding things to the list and will never be happy.
I didn't spend every day of the last 8 years complaining about Obama and I wouldn't have spent the next 4 complaining about Clinton had she won. I take a wait and see/hope for the best approach, and judge based on actions not speculation.

I'm sorry, I must have missed what he did? You mean he looked into the camera and said "stop it" to white supremacists? That was a start, but did he do anything else besides having a war with celebrities, tv shows, and news network criticizing him?
Even today, he called...more than HALF of the voters his "enemies"..not to mention his stupid tweet wishing..even his enemies(which I assume are non supporters) a happy new year. Sure doesn't sound like the great unifier to me SR. Did I hear he will work across the aisle during his inauguration speech?...Or did he criticized and threw everyone sitting behind him under the bus?
Turn on the TV. I am not the only one complaining. It's a sad day to see there are more protesters in Washington than his inauguration crowd. Even his supporters are losing faith in him.
So please, I'll wait for you to make a list of all the things he have done to appease to the other half of American voters. Currently I can't name a thing...maybe stopping the ethics board from being dismantled...that's about it.Last edited by Singuy; 01-21-2017, 02:10 PM.

If Trump did everything his opponents wanted, then he'd piss off all of his supporters. That would never work and wouldn't ever happen. So the majority of voters who voted against him are never going to be happy with him. That's just the way it is.Originally posted by StormRichards View PostI am of the belief that even if Trump did every thing his haters wanted him to do, they would just keep adding things to the list and will never be happy.

As for judging based on actions, I totally agree with that. So far, he has signed an Exec Order aimed at limiting the impact of the ACA. I don't know that the order actually accomplished anything, but it certainly sets the tone for where he's heading. I know many, many people who are deeply scared and concerned about what will happen to them if they lose their insurance that they only have because of the ACA. My partner and I are also very concerned about how it will impact our practice since we got a few hundred new patients because of the ACA and stand to lose them all if the coverage goes away.Steve

I agree...but Trump created such supporters. Somehow they were duped into thinking the past 8 years caused the zombie apocalypse due to a Kenyan born Muslim as a president. This is his own creation. He and his gang of people managed to delegitimized any positive news in the past 8 years. 4.9% unemployment rate?..Fake News. Median Wages finally going up? Fake News. Obama went on a golfing trip? Oh he spent 200 million dollars on that trip while crime rate SKYROCKETS!..Originally posted by disneysteve View PostIf Trump did everything his opponents wanted, then he'd piss off all of his supporters. So yes, of course Trump can't appease to the other half of the voters..because there are two realities we are living in. The Obamapocolypse vs reality.

Yeah talking about the ACA, I can bet you not one Trump supporter understands it. They have no idea what is the threshold to be penalty exempt, no idea why premiums are so expensive, no idea why certain people can't afford the ACA in their state, and why it needs tweaking or it will fail. If you don't understand any of this, why are your opinions about it being repealed so strong?Originally posted by disneysteve View PostAs for judging based on actions, I totally agree with that.
