Emma

March 21st, 2020 at 11:15 AM by CB in the City

My big expenditure yesterday was to order "Emma" on Amazon Prime. It was $20, but worth every penny to me. It was just what I needed. Frothy and delightful. The best distraction I've had.

I trimmed my bangs, since I won't be getting a haircut any time soon. Maybe I will let it grow out a little.

I made the mac & cheese, the old-fashioned way -- baked in the oven with bread crumbs on top. It was delicious. Today I'm making the oatmeal cookies. It seems in the new reality,...

Ready for Lockdown and Prayer Needed for my Sister

March 21st, 2020 at 06:18 AM by Lucky Robin

The last couple of days have been really crazy, but we are as prepared as we can be to a hunker down in place order, which could come down at any moment. Inslee seems a little hesitant to shoot that arrow, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen by the end of the weekend.

The banks are closed now except for drive-thru. Toilet paper is selling for $1 a roll. I am glad we got it before this mess started. I usually stock up quite a bit every couple of months or so,...

just a catch up

March 21st, 2020 at 12:28 AM by mumof2

Nothing exciting happening here...picked up a couple things from the store yesterday for us and my mom who couldn't get it in her area...so glad she has some of what she needed...we are pretty stocked here...we eat a lot of fresh vegies/fruit and the stores ahve a good supply of those right now so we are doing ok.

I have been pushing myself to get everything done since my hubby can't leave the house as he is at high risk and I have been stuck in bed as I pushed to hard and my...

A few grabs before no more shopping

March 20th, 2020 at 09:13 PM by Banker Gurl

I grabbed a few items at CVS and Walmart last week before I stopped leaving the house. The CVS buys were just so I could use up my EBs and turn them into cash before I was staying at home.

I won't be having any new hauls for some time, but that is fine, I have plenty to work on here!

CVS
Crest Complete Intensity Toothpaste (Bought 1)
Regular Price $?
Clearance to $2.19
-$2.00 CVS CMC Coupon
Final Price + Tax = $0 (Not sure what the cashier did on this, it should...

Covid-19 Update

March 20th, 2020 at 08:20 PM by Amber

So prior to the new e-FMLA I made a recommendation to open our schools to staff. That request was denied, citing, we can’t pay employees. Well post e-FMLA, I mention that staff will now be able to take leave, non-paid, when it comes to child care, and we must restore the position. Now leadership says it’s okay to open the school but the employee must pay. 🙄🤦🏽‍♀️

I realize that the company I work with, definitely doesn’t consider/care for their staff. It’s...

Sitting it Out

March 20th, 2020 at 03:33 PM by Fern

It will be a quiet day for me. (Heck, a quiet foreseeable future.)

On Thursday I ventured out to buy groceries for me and Dad. I got there during senior hours, but in truth it was probably more crowded that it might have been if I had gone during the middle of the day? I'm not sure when an uncrowded time to go would be since nearly everyone is home and presumably go food shopping at any time.

Stop & Shop was completely out of bananas and most meat. My father wanted chicken...

Be Careful

March 20th, 2020 at 03:19 PM by klarose

So much craziness going on. It is ridiculous how many people aren't taking this seriously. But who can blame them if the states aren't testing and people don't believe it is in their area.

I live in a small town and my mom is in the medical profession. She says there have been many people that have all the symptoms but the DRs refuse to test. First they were short on tests, now they have some but they still won't. They will only test if you have been out of the country in the...

Past the Halfway Point

March 20th, 2020 at 11:30 AM by CB in the City

I've surpassed one week at home and I have five more days to go before I can leave the house. I am feeling better, though I do have a lingering cough. Of course, I still don't know if I have the virus and I guess I'll never know. This cough may be something else entirely. Happily, I have never had much of a fever so I've been relatively comfortable.

My first order of business when I reach day 14 is to go to the local grocery store during senior hours and get a few things,...

This Is Crazy

March 20th, 2020 at 02:42 AM by Amber

So we had our leadership meeting, we all report updates based on our department. Things are changing daily on the HR side. As you know the FMLA law was updated, I’m to report those areas that impact us the most, I’m told not to report. WTF!

I’m so disappointed in our response to the virus. It’s the lack of being educated, running by the seat of our pants. The organization doesn’t even have a legal team, that I’ve been asking for, since I started. Decisions are...

My Perspective

March 19th, 2020 at 08:48 PM by DK62565

I shared this on Facebook this morning. I'm not a sage by any means, but to be honest, I'm a little tired of the complaining and negativity as well as the panic on the news.

I was thinking about our situation and then remembering something in the past. In 1978 I was in high school. That year we had missed so many days due to bad weather. Either a snow day was called or we had early release since many of the students at my school district lived in rural areas. We were supposed...

FB Sales Week of 3/8/20

March 19th, 2020 at 04:42 PM by Banker Gurl

I only had one sale picked up this last week, not surprising with everyone trying to stay home due to the pandemic. Since I work from home nothing has really changed for me. I am still trying to post items even though sales are slow. I know it won't sell if it's not posted!

Sold for $3.00
Profit = $1.67

St. Patricks Day Shirt - I paid $1.07

State Refund Arrived

March 19th, 2020 at 02:09 PM by Life Balance

I was beginning to think our state delayed the payment of income tax refunds because it’s been about a month and a half since our taxes were filed online. But this morning I see that the state refund is direct deposited in the bank account. As planned I directed it to the 0% CC that needs to be repaid by May. The remaining balance now is $2130.

A Raise!

March 19th, 2020 at 12:07 PM by CB in the City

I got a notice from TIAA that my interest-only payment from my retirement fund will rise by $5. That surprises me, since I was expecting it would be lowered, given what's happening. I'll take it. The fund that is invested in the stock market has fallen by 19% YTD.

My booties and the backpack arrived yesterday. The backpack is great, and the booties are cute, but too small. I have to exchange them. I knew that ordering footwear online would be difficult. I boxed them up...

25th Wedding Anniversary

March 18th, 2020 at 11:05 PM by Lucky Robin

Well, DH and I made it to 25 years of marriage. You know all those couples that people say it will never last about? That was never us. We were the couple people said were going to make it and I am happy that we have proved them all right. We were a good match from day one. We are best friends and the loves of each others lives. We may not be able to control what the world is currently throwing at us, but we will get through it together like we always do everything.

I...

Vet Visits Redefined

March 18th, 2020 at 09:20 PM by Life Balance

We recently adopted a stray cat and today was its first vet appointment to get checked out and receive immunizations. The animal clinic sent a message a few hours before the appointment to alert us of the temporary protocol in place due to the coronavirus. After we parked the car, we called them to let them know that Bandit (The kids name our pets.) had arrived. I spoke on the phone with the technician to review concerns & health history just like we normally do in the exam room....

Need Help - Online Games?

March 18th, 2020 at 07:05 PM by Monkey Mama

MH has been searching for online card games to play with his Grandma (who is in total isolation at this point, because she's 95).

Does anyone have any ideas? Most definitely willing to pay for apps or games if necessary.

Card games preferred, but anything simple and multi player. I joked that DL(14) should get her set up with Minecraft. Is how DL(14) is connecting with his friends. (Or whatever random online stuff kids do these days).

P.S. I should say that anything...

Pay Day

March 18th, 2020 at 12:31 PM by CB in the City

Well, it's reassuring to have a pay day, and to be able to pay my bills. I am concerned for all those affected by the shutdown of restaurant services. I am also concerned about DIL's business, which is event planning. When are people going to want to plan events again? I'm very worried about how the business will survive the next few months. It's so weird; she went from dreading a very busy weekend, to cancellations, to a dire outlook. My son is the main breadwinner, but...

Pissed!

March 18th, 2020 at 07:51 AM by Amber

I ell these last few weeks have been extremely exhausting for me.

First my mom hit me for $1500 that I totally forgot about, significantly reducing my EF. I’d borrow the money from her about five years ago. I tried paying her back and she wouldn’t take the money. Honestly I forgot about it, well she asked for it. Was I annoyed? Absolutely but I owe it and I’m done with it. She was upset because I took my $100 she owed me, for paying her cable bill. Either way, we’re...
