Is Walmart Open on Labor Day 2017?

August 31, 2017 by Alexa Mason

Is Walmart Open on Labor Day
Many people go into the Labor Day weekend with the expectation that everything will be open. However, this isn’t always the case. All nonessential government agencies are the only ones required to close their doors on Federal holidays – not private businesses. For example, places like the post office, banks and even the stock market are closed. However retailers, grocers and other businesses have the option to remain open on Federal holidays.

Some people are looking to celebrate the upcoming Federal holiday, Labor Day, with a cook out or some other celebration. Many people will have the day off on Labor Day Monday and may be looking to pick up a few last-minute items or get their weekly shopping done.  Walmart is a favorite for these sorts of items, but will Walmart be open on Labor Day, September 4, 2017?”

Is Walmart Open on Labor Day?

Yes, Walmart is open! If you need to buy something last minute, it is good to know that your local Walmart will be there to serve you on Labor Day. Many Walmart stores have other businesses operating within their location (for example, pharmacies, money transfer services or barber shops). These other businesses may or may not be open on Labor Day. If you need to visit one of these establishments we suggest you call first to confirm whether they are open or closed for the holiday.

Walmart Labor Day Sale

Is a trip to Walmart worth it on Labor Day? Yes it is! Walmart celebrates Labor Day with huge sales. Find everything you need from various categories, including electronics, home, sports & outdoors, video games, back-to-school, furniture and mattresses, clothing, baby goods and home improvement. You will likely also see sales on cook out supplies (hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, grills, etc).

If you are going shopping at Walmart on Labor Day, it is suggested that you use some tried and true ways to save money.

  1. Make your purchase with discount gift cards.  Gift Card Wiki is offering them for a 5% discount. This is an easy way to shave a good margin off your Walmart bill.
  2. Use a Walmart credit card to grab some cash back.  Normally going with store cards is a bad idea, so if you choose this route you’ll need to manage it carefully.
  3. Exploit Walmart price matching.  Walmart will price match their brick and mortar and online competitors.  To request your price match check their Customer Service page or call them at 1-800-925-6278.
  4. Don’t forget to scan your recipe into the Walmart Savings Catcher. This will do all the price matching for you and place the money you’re owed into a Walmart account that you can cash in for a gift card or make purchases with at any time.

What Is Walmart’s Holiday Schedule?

Walmart is open all year long except for Christmas Day. You’ll see Walmart open on limited hours for Thanksgiving Day and some extended hours on Black Friday. Most Walmart locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (minus those few hours on Thanksgiving and Christmas). It is, however, wise to double check the store hours before you head out to go shopping as not all Walmart locations are open 24 hours – some may also be closed due to facility maintenance, construction or the like.

So, if you’re thinking about heading to Walmart this Labor Day, go ahead! The doors will be open and the sales will be in full swing. As always, be sure to make responsible purchases and save money when you can.
