Restaurants Open on Sundays

August 26, 2016 by Amanda Blankenship

Restaurants open on Sundays
Going out to eat on Sunday has become part of many families’ weekly routines. Whether it be a late-morning brunch or lunch/dinner after church, Sunday meals are time usually spent alongside family, enjoying one another. If you are planning to go out for your Sunday meal together, it may be good to have a list of restaurants open on Sundays. Sunday is a tricky day to know for sure whether a business will be open or closed. Many businesses close their doors because Sunday, in America, is a day many people take for rest – especially in religious parts of the country. Here is a breakdown of which restaurants are open and which are closed on Sundays:

Fast Food Restaurants Open on Sundays

If you are looking for a quick and cheap bite to eat on Sunday, you may want to check the hours of your favorite fast food restaurant because not all of them are open. Some may also have altered hours on Sunday. Here are the typical hours of major fast-food restaurants that are open on Sundays:

McDonald’s

McDonald’s is one of the few chain restaurants that are open 365 days a year. On Sundays their hours are 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. unless it is a 24-hour location. In that case, the McDonald’s will stay open through Saturday night into Sunday and throughout the entire day.

Wendy’s

Wendy’s is another fast food chain that remains open on Sundays. Their hours on Sundays are 10 a.m. until midnight. This is different from other days of the week where they are open until 1 a.m. or later.

Taco Bell

If you are looking to get your “Fourth Meal” from Taco Bell you will be able to do so on Sunday. Taco Bell is open from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m. on Sundays. Throughout the week they are usually open until 3 a.m.

Burger King

On Sundays Burger King is open. Their hours are shortened to 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. instead of staying open until midnight.

KFC

KFC is another fast food restaurant that remains open on Sundays. Most locations, however, only remain open until 9 p.m.

Jack in the Box

Most Jack-in-the-Box locations are open 24 hours. The same goes for Sundays.

Starbucks

Starbucks is open on Sundays as well. Most coffee locations are open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sundays.

Fast Food Restaurants Closed on Sundays

While many fast food locations remain open on Sundays there are some restaurants that close on Sundays. The following restaurants are closed:

Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A prides itself on being a Christian-owned company. Because of this, it closes its doors on Sundays.

Showmars

Showmars is a restaurant that is found mostly in the Southern part of the United States. This company gives its employees off each and every Sunday.

Sit-Down Restaurants Open on Sundays

If you aren’t in the mood for fast food this Sunday you can always head to a nicer sit-down restaurant. Most major sit-down restaurant chains have Sunday hours. The following restaurants are definitely open on Sunday but they may have altered hours of operation:

Applebee’s

Applebee’s has some later hours than normal restaurants during the week because it has a bar. However, on Sundays Applebee’s is only open from 11 a.m. until midnight.

Chili’s

Chili’s, which is normally open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. closes at 10 p.m. on Sundays.

Olive Garden

Like Chili’s, Olive Garden shortens its hours by one hour on Sundays. Olive Garden is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday.

LongHorn

If you are in the mood for a nice steak dinner this Sunday, LongHorn will be open. Their hours of operation are 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Panera

Most Panera locations shorten their hours on Sundays. Usually Panera is open until 9 p.m. (some locations are open later). However, on Sunday Panera closes at 8 p.m.

Hooters

Hooters restaurants are open on Sundays. Hooters Sunday hours are 11 a.m.–12 a.m.

Costco

The Costco food court is a favorite for pizza lovers. The food court is typically open during the same hours as their warehouse stores. Costco Sunday hours are typically 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call ahead as not all Costco warehouse locations are open on Sundays.

Want some Sunday dining saving advice?

1. Children and seniors often qualify for special deals at restaurants. Consider calling ahead to see if your favorite spot can give your younger or older family a discount.
2. Don’t forget about coupons. Check sites like couponmountain.com, fatwallet.com, or your local newspaper.
3. Order water instead of soda or alcohol. You’ll shave at least 5% off your bill doing this.
4. Go for combos or share dishes. Do the math first to be sure you are getting a deal.
