National Ice Cream Day Deals and Freebies

July 15, 2016 by Amanda Blankenship

National Ice Cream Day Deals
National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, July 17. It is one of many fun made-up holidays in the United States that gives us all a reason to get a good deal on a treat (or possibly receive one for free).

National Ice Cream Day is a day that was proposed by Senator Walter Dee Huddleston in May of 1984. On July 9, 1984 President Ronald Reagan signed into public law that July is National Ice Cream Month and that July 15, 1984 would be National Ice Cream Day. Although the proclamation only states that specific day in 1984, the celebrations and the eating of ice cream has continued on ever since.

Now the day is normally celebrated on the third Sunday in July each year. However, this year many companies will kickstart the holiday on Friday, July 15 and continue their deals and freebies through the “holiday” weekend.

Obviously, because it is the middle of summer, there are plenty of ice cream deals around that have nothing to do with the holiday. There are a few companies offering specific promotions to celebrate National Ice Cream Day though. Here are some of the biggest deals being offered:
