25 Places You Can Find Change

September 23, 2015 by Alexa Mason

25 Places You Can Find Change
There is nothing better than when you find an unexpected windfall. As our interactions become more and more digitally focused there is almost a quaint simplicity during those moments when we find some loose change during our daily wanderings.

There are also a large number of people who would prefer to pass up the random change that they find on the road. I am not one of them. There are several people in the financial community who feel that every single cent has value and that by picking up a penny, nickel, dime, or quarter you are respecting the value of the money that crossed your path.

In keeping with that mindset I would like to share 25 locations where you, too, can find loose change.

• Vending machines-Specifically where the change is dispensed after you make a purchase. People oftentimes forget to take all of their change out of the machine because they are in a hurry.

• On the Ground! Look down at the ground every once in a while instead of at your cell phone. It is amazing how much change is on the ground.

• Underneath the vending machine-A recent evening news feature followed a man who found thousands over time by using this one trick.

• Next to parking meters-If you see parking meters that are still accepting change, look at their base to see if change has been left on the ground.

• At the laundromat-This a great place to find change because laundromats are almost always all cash businesses.

• Your pants pockets-Sometimes people will slip change (or dollar bills) in their pants pocket. I’ve found a lot of money checking my pockets.

• Your purse-Ladies, do you switch out your purses throughout the week? I know that I do. Check the purses that you aren’t using to see if there is change at the bottom.

• In your washing machine or dryer-If you’ve forgotten to check your pants pockets, it’s likely that your forgotten change will be found after you do the wash.
• On the bus-The bus is a great place to find change that has dropped from rider’s pockets.

• In front of or inside of your local bar (for obvious reasons).

• Your car-Change always drops when you’re paying tolls.

• The curb-Look at the curb next to your car.

• In kitchen drawers-Sometimes people will toss change into kitchen drawers.

• At the Gas Station

• At the ballpark (underneath the seats)

• At Food Truck events

• When you’re at the Farmers Market check the area in front of each stall for dropped change.

• Between your couch cushions.

• At the amusement park! Change always drops from people’s pockets when they are on the roller coaster.

• Underneath the bleachers at any pop up event.

• Look for forgotten coin collections that are hidden in strange places in your home.

• In your winter jackets.

• Parking garages.

• Your local coffee shop

• In your exercise bag.

There are people who report regularly finding change wherever they go. You too can find change on a daily basis. Collect your change and take it to your local bank for currency or a Coinstar machine at the nearest grocery store.
