With all the competition online at the moment and those who are spending money to market their website it makes it very difficult and time consuming to create a website and make money out of it for free. Also there is a steep learning curve online and alot of it is trial and error. I own a number of different websites and yes some make money that were practically free to setup, it has cost me alot of time and money spent to get to a stage where I can actually do that.

I would advise that you do what I did if you want to make money online from a website. Get hold of some information on how to do it. Then approach some websites and start marketing for them for awhile. You'll not only build up your knowledge but you'll get to spend their money doing it as well as getting money to invest in your own ventures...

In physical company and online there is no get-rick-quick-scheme. It takes a lot of hard work and patience to find your niche in blogging, affiliate marketing, adsense and doing online jobs or virtual assistants task. The bottom line is you have to be committed to earn.

I have the know how to design my own site, so that's free. And I'm making a site currently to sell my web design services. I will make profit after my first sale.

Also putting together a t-shirt website. In the end, the whole site with design prototypes, LLC, etc., start up cost will probably be around only $500 or so. I will only have to sell about 60 shirts to cover that $500. I hope I could do that within several years, or my business plan and shirts are total crap...but their not

Making money through a website can be tough. Its not as easy as many people make out but it is doable with a certain amount fo dedication. If you have a website or blog you could firstly try adding some google adsense adverts, you could also sign up to some affiliate networks and start promoting other peoples products this way you can get commision on any sales. If you are good at writing you could write articles and publish them to other sites such as hub pages, squidoo and Triond, then monitise these pages and thus get an income from further adsense advertising. If you run a blog you could offer an ebook, course or free giveaway in return for subscribers email addresses. You can then start to target subscribers with regular emails about products relating to your niche.

Nothing is free, you need a computer, internet connection.
But there are very cheap ways.

Be VERY careful when researching online business opportunities, I havent been victim to scams, but I have spent money on products (books and memberships) that were not worth my money, not even my time.

Also, none of the legit effective ways are fast, prepare to work at them 1-2 years before you start seeing any dough.

You need to be or become self motivated and teachable.

I strongly agree with this reply. This is the true thing that nothing is free, you've to invest time, money, hardest effort, patience. If you want to earn by creating your own website first plan people will like your websites, and is your content is helpful for people, if its attractive then people might back to your website and you'll get benefit from various advertising like google adsense. But it really needs long efforts.

Adsense yes. Try an affiliate program like Clickbank. Lots of people will pay you commissions to sell their products on your website or blog and a Clickbank membership is free.

From my experience, there are 3 types of mentality when one thinks about making money on the Internet.

Here are 3 things people think or say (in general, not to me):

1. Skeptic - "No way you can make $100,000 a year online"
2. Naive - "I would like to make 'a little' extra income, like $500 a month, what can I do to make that next month"
3. Reasonable - "I know money can be made, but I will need to work hard at it"

There is a lot of information out there about this subject and people tend to get information overloaded.

My suggestion is, pick a particular business model and go with that one (you can always branch out later). I am just now learning this concept, because it is very easy to get overloaded with information.
