I think we have about 30 websites and blogs now. Most are very small niche websites. I you look under the "advertising" link on the front page of this site, it lists a number of them.

personally I've found that a combination of CPC and CPA programs work well to monetise a website. As with all things web related though, traffic is the key - no traffic = no money!

If making money online were easy, everyone would be doing it. It's NOT an easy road. There are LOTS of things you have to learn about just to set up a simple, semi-professional looking site (unless you are going to pay someone to do every little thing for you). Then learning how to participate in affiliate programs, adsense, pay-per-click advertising, CPM advertising, search engine optimization, etc. each require a LOT of time to become even reasonably knowledgeable in. So if you're looking to the web to make $$$, plan on it being a loooooooooooong road to prosperity.

Making money is good if you have enough website development knowledge, you can get bulk of money from e-lancing. There are many online ways of making money other than this and we can use them effectively.

Strategic partnerships are helpful as well if you do decide to go this route. Whether it's trading links with a website with complimentary products or trading content, it can be beneficial to find partners.

                  Hi,

The biggest investment will be your "time and effort" if it's a legitimate website business. Agree with other comments; there are a LOT of scams out there; and I spun my wheels finding out the hard way.

Bottom line, a legit business that will earn you could income takes patience but the effort can be fun if you base your site on what you're "passionate" about.

Its a lot of work, but doable as a part-time job. Read and follow the top 5 or 6 bloggers in the industry, study their posts, and stay committed. Its a slow process, but after 6 - 9 months you can earn $50 - $100 bucks a day selling ad space on a mediocre site. Traffic is key, no traffic = no money.

i have just started a blog, and am very new when it comes to anything other than Microsoft Office products, but I recommend you get a few books on the type of site (blog, ecommerce, etc.) you are starting, and you can learn from others who have come before you. I am not expecting to make money now, but maybe in a few years it will be a different story. right now I'm just trying to learn the ropes! Thanks for all the advice.

Making money online is not easy. I think that has been stated a few times in the past 15 posts. I think the best place to start is research, research, research. Speak to others that have been successful, maybe even speak to some that haven't. For me, I came across a great site that has helped me. I have made many websites in the past, but none of them successful because I didn't have the base of what makes a good monetizable website. If you are interested in a good site send me a private message and I would be happy to pass you along.

I make a full time income and then some online and over the past 10 years I can tell you it's a lot of work but the secret is nailing the niche. if you get a niche that is popular for searches and not so many websites you can do well with affiliate marketing. To make money from Google adsense you need to have a lot of websites with lots of pages on them that get a front page rankings in the search engines. You can make a lot of money selling your own product but you'll need to be prepared to spend some money as well. The keyword research here is critical.

Yes, you can make money from a website. It all depends on the kind of services you are offering. You need to have something to sell to make money. It could be your intellect or a certain product.

Time and effort will be your biggest cost. Those first couple of years you will be paid practically nothing for all the long hours you need to put into the website to make it successful.
