  • how many credit cards do you guys have?

How many credit cards do you guys have and which ones do you like? I'm embarrassed about how many we have now. It's a bit wild.

    Alaska (2) $95
    Chase Sapphire Preferred $95
    Ink Preferred $95
    Citi Costco (2)
    Chase Freedom
    Amazon Prime
    Marriott Bonvoy Chase $95
    Schwab Amex Plat $495
Amex Gold $250 (had $200 discount and debating cancelling)
    Amex Blue Business
    Discover (oldest card)
    Wells Fargo Active

OMG 14 active cards. And I even considered getting another.

Jointly we have a Marriott Visa and a Chase Freedom Visa. Individually we each have a Discover card.

I should add that the Chase and Discover cards have no fee. The Marriott card is $95/year which includes one "free" night at a hotel. We're actually using our 2023 certificate in a couple of weeks. The cash rate for the room would be $205 so we're essentially getting it for $95 which is a pretty good deal. That alone makes paying for the card well worth the price.

2 BofA, 2 Citi, 1 Capital One. All but 1 Citi card are used. I hope Citi cancels the one that I don't use. LAL are you getting your money's worth after paying those annual fees? None of my credit cards have annual fees and I don't think I would be able to get my money's worth if I had to pay annual fees.

We have 4 credit cards. They all have mega rewards in one category or another. Mostly use the Citi 2% cash back (on everything) but it's also nice to get 6% back on groceries while feeding teen boys.

4 credit cards. 2 hotel rewards, 1 airline rewards, and 1 from our credit union which offers cash back.

LAL, I'm with you ... We've unintentionally expanded our plastic exposure to an embarrassing level. In total, 11 accounts. DW & I each have a card for nearly all of those accounts, though we even have separate accounts for a couple of the AMEX cards (to get independent benefits for each of us).

                Daily Drivers:
                - Citi Double Cash (2% cash back, everything)
                - Citi Costco Visa (1-4% cash back, a few categories)
                - AMEX Blue Preferred (6% cash back, groceries)
                Occasional Use:
                - Discover (5% cash back, rotating categories)
                - 2x AMEX Platinum (mostly used for its side benefits, which are extensive)
                - 2x AMEX Delta Reserve (Flights & side-benefits)
                - Amazon Prime store card (5% cash back, Amazon)
                - Citi Government Travel Card (required for the job)
                Rarely/Never used
                - Lowes store card (got it for a discount on new countertops, should probably just close it

I used to have a USAA credit card, but it got shut down for lack of use a couple years ago .... otherwise, that would be my oldest card. Now, I think it's the Discover.

Except for the last 2 (GTC & Lowes), we're pretty happy with all of them, even though I wish I could convince myself to whittle it down some.

kork reminded me that I’ve got a Lowes card too. We got it to save 10% on our refrigerator. It also gets us 5% off purchases which I’ve used a number of times. No fee on that one.

We keep two. Have had one hacked and shut off in the past.
Wouldn't want to be somewhere traveling, etc. without at least one good card.

I carry 3 cards. One is our household/joint spending card with a healthy gas/groceries rebate. One low-interest card through my bank, which I only use to keep alive. No rewards, just low interest should I ever need it? Never needed it. And my personal card which has a nominal cash back reward.

The husband carries an additional two, an airline miles card, and his ridiculous Amex.
                      History will judge the complicit.

I've got three in my wallet right now, but seeing your list makes me feel like a lightweight. I've heard good things about the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Amex Gold, though.

It happens and I feel like cutting back but it's hard to justify when there are so many pros for specific cards for a reason
