Does anyone know what percentage of jobs are "minimum wage jobs"?

Other than the food service industry and entry level retail stuff most everything in my area pays much better than minimum wage.
I think min. wage here is $7.25

This seems to align with my understanding that the actual percentage of Min Wage (state level) is pretty low. Many states have a higher minimum wage than federal.

In 2023, around *** percent of hourly wage workers in Rhode Island earned wages at or below the federal minimum wage.
      History will judge the complicit.

Gee, that looks a lot like the map of states with the highest poverty levels.

        * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
        * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
        * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

That's a deceptive map. It's looking at absolute number of residents as opposed to percentage of residents. For example, PA looks worse than MS only because PA has a lot more people but the RATE of poverty is a lot higher in MS.

I think we are the highest minimum wage in 2024 - Washington State at $16.24 / hr.

Our overall poverty percentage is 9.9%. The highest age group (0-17 yrs) is almost 12% but seniors (65+ yrs) are at 8.2%.

                Pennsylvania is still at $7.25.
There was a bill that passed in the house last summer that would take it to $15 by 2026, but it is stalled out in the senate.
Last time it went up here was 2009 when the federal minimum wage was raised.

Do you happen to know if many employers actually pay $7.25? I would think that it would be very difficult to find people willing to work for that.

                    None that I know of.
I live on the southwestern side of the state near Pittsburgh.
All the job postings around here that would be considered menial or entry level are for around $15 or more.

There’s an old joke that Pennsylvania has Pittsburgh in the west, Philadelphia in the east, and Alabama in the middle.

If you want to find the minimum wage jobs in PA, I’d look in the areas a good distance from the two cities. National companies have higher minimums but little mom and pop operations may be more likely to be on the lower end.

You have to live outside the cities because near any major city in any state you aren't paying the minimum wage anywhere.
