We're not at the bottom yet. There are still people taking cruises and flying planes, and most hourly/retail and foodservice staff are still working. This little slice of hell is just getting started.

They're never going to get Americans to self-quarantine and even a mandatory quarantine, so I think the possibility of widespread sickness and much more downtime and loss of productivity is still very possible. The only thing we have going for us is the change of season--we can only hope COVID trails off like the flu does in warmer weather. I think it's going to be a race.
    History will judge the complicit.

We can debate until the cows come home the causes of market declines, but in this case, it isn’t really a presidential speech issue. I wish it was that easy. Of course, both sides will attempt to politicize this because that’s what our representatives do these days, and it is a disgrace. They don’t govern any more, they just try to get more power and keep it.

The stock market was overbought, and every bubble eventually finds a needle. Corona - and it’s hysteria - will mostly pass soon and we will move on.

And that's why I think we're in a historic buying opportunity.

        * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
        * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

I suspect it’s going to get a lot more historic soon.

I agree. Viking and Princess just suspended operations until May.

I was looking at buying more Disney a couple of days ago. I generally only buy 1 share at time... so, no big moves here. Anyway, I thought I would wait until it dropped to $100. I was surprised to see it was down to $94. And, this is without closing WDW, DL or DLP--which if it happens I expect it to go down some more. I bought 3 shares today.

I'm actually looking away from individual stocks right now, though they are awfully tempting. I'm looking at the SPDR Transportation ETF and the Vanguard Energy ETF. But haven't ruled out the cruise line or more airline stock.

I think that is probably a smarter strategy than buying individual stocks, but I have this goal to own a certain number of shares of Disney stock. I have another 51 shares to go (I might reach the goal sooner than I thought). I am really liking making the free stock purchases on the brokerage account.

Well this is not a bad time to be buying Disney. Though if the US parks close, the price will collapse. That's when I'll buy.

If I had an extra half million in cash lying around I'd be on a buying binge

Darn. That isn't what I want. That's mostly trucking companies and rail lines. I want something that's consumer travel targeted - airlines, cruises, hotels, etc.

                            Looks like that's all airlines.
