Cord for me. I tried a cheap $7 China wireless earbud and it's complicated to figure out but once set it works good but too much hassle for me. I'd rather deal with a corded earphones.

Cord earheadphones or wireless or bluetooth earbuds?

When it comes to headphones, I argue that quality matters. If it's just $10-$20, chances are that the sound quality will be garbage, they'll be uncomfortable, constantly fall out, wear out/break quickly, etc. I say this having gone that route more times than I'd like to admit.
I'm a huge fan of the wireless bone-conduction headphones from Aftershokz. I've used them for at least the last 6ish years, and meantime converted my wife, brothers, and many friends to them as well. They're extremely lightweight & comfortable, stay put great (sit over/behind the ears then wrap around the upper neck), water/sweat resistant, battery lasts for a solid 12+ hrs, and the sound quality is respectably good. I wear them working out (mostly running/biking), and because my ears are open & unobstructed, I can easily hear cars, people, or animals as they approach, or comfortably hold a conversation while keeping the music going in my background. Oh, and only I can hear what's playing, unlike the many headphones that I can hear beyond arm's reach from other people at they go by. I often find myself wearing them around all day listening to podcasts or music, not noticing they're there until someone points them out or something/someone (kids) physically removes them. And they're still decently affordable, mostly around $100-$150, last I looked. Slightly expensive, but for as much as I use them, entirely worthwhile. My only complaint is that (for phone calls, etc.) the microphone is kinda tinny and not up to par with the rest of its quality.

Bluetooth for sure. I was corded forever until I found a deal online for these jbl headphones for $40. Well, they're basically garbage...but I found out how much nicer it is not to deal with a cord when lifting or using the elliptical. I chucked those and took my wife's airpod pro 1st gen. She upgraded to airpod pro 2nd gen. What a difference. Sound quality is superb compared to the cheap jbls. And the noise cancelling is very good. I'm not an apple fan boy but those airpod are awesome. $200 for the latest pro model, I'd recommend all day.
Before I had a kid I would always bring a spare cheap corded in a plane. Bluetooth can go dead so I always had a backup. Now with kid, I don't even wear headphones. Have to keep him occupied so no more vegging out.

Earbuds have zero appeal to me. In my truck is typically the only time I listen to music, and there it is Bluetooth from the phone to the truck.
I do have a set of headphones which are wired. I use them for listening to audio recordings from our ghost hunting trips. I also have a set of Bluetooth headphones which I use for Discord when gaming.

We both bought inexpensive JLAB wireless ear buds a couple of years ago. They were under $30 on Amazon. They have worked just fine for both of us. I use them when out walking or on the treadmill in the gym. I occasionally use them if I'm lying in bed watching something on my phone and don't want to disturb my wife. She uses hers a lot in the house watching stuff on her iPad. I see absolutely no reason to spend a fortune on AirPods or other higher end products. I did try the bone conduction ones at the running store and they're neat but I just don't really have any need for them as the $30 ones do everything I want.Steve

Bluetooth, especially now that the audio port and charging port are one and the same on an iphone. I most often use headphones when traveling/flying and on a long flight I want to be able to charge my phone while listening so I don't land with a low battery. I recently upgraded from standard bluetooth headphones to ear buds with a charging case which has been a complete game changer. With my old ones, I'd never think to charge them til I needed them, and now they're charging every time I take them out of my ears.

It's so rare that I fly, and I don't work out in a gym. If I start doing more of either I'm coming back to this thread for recommendations. Actually I really like the idea of a bone-conduction. I've never enjoyed having things IN my ears. My workout space is an elliptical in my shop, or else I can hit a local trail. If I'm on the trail I don't want to listen to anything except trail noises. In the shop, I turn up the stereo.History will judge the complicit.

My $40 pair sucked and my buddies wyze pair were semi better, but both were a joke compared to airpods or Bose. Headphones get up into the thousands btw. Guess for audiophiles.Steve

My boss got us all Tilde Orosound headphones. They are way more than I would spend, but the quality and performance is way beyond anything else I've tried. For work purposes, they are perfect!
However, for personal use, I prefer wired in-ear buds with replaceable rubber inserts. The "Skull Candy" ones I've been using for 7+ years still work great, plus being attached to my old phone used as an MP3 player and streamer, they never get lost. I always have issues with Bluetooth, such as having to forget and reconnect, so wired simply makes more sense for a worry-free experience.
