  • These examples are what I'm afraid about Market place and Craigslist sales.

    • Your first mistake is reading the NY Post. That is nothing but clickbait articles.

So 2 people were killed this year. That's awful, but how many millions of Marketplace transactions have taken place during that same period?

      • I tried listing my ebike for sale on eBay, anyone knows what this means as to why eBay won't allow me to list it.

        • Battery is not safe.

it would require special shipping label and most likely is to avoid any liability issues if something goes wrong in shipment

Hum, could you try selling it on Facebook marketplace? That might get around the battery requirement?

            • As for eBay denying the sale of the ebike, I intended not to ship the ebike and intended to list it as local pick up only, no shipping. Good call James, I listed it on FB marketplace & Craigslist.

              • Got 4 inquiries on FB marketplace asking if the ebike is still available but when I ask them when they want to come take a look at it, crickets. FB marketplace seems to be a waste of time.

                    • I've been flipping gear for a while now, and the biggest game-changer for me was moving away from the "cheap and fast" $10 items to focusing on niche electronics and specialized tools. Those $50+ sales take the same amount of effort to pack and ship as a $10 DVD but actually make the time investment worth it. If you're hitting estate sales, keep an eye out for vintage audio equipment, even "for parts" units can fetch a premium from hobbyists.

                      • I got a message from eBay, "thank you for 12 years." It has served me well in unloading items that I no longer needed. And buying things as well.

                        • Time to bump this thread, I started my auction at $1 for this laptop (i5 processor 12th generation) which sold for $147 + $30 shipping because I bought a new HP laptop with an i3 processor 13th generation for $359.

                          • I just sold a new $35 roof cross bar rack on Offer Up. I had bought it in 2020 to install it on a 2018 Dodge Journey but never used it and sold that car in 2024. Good feeling to get rid of it. I paid $60 for it in 2020.

                            • Today someone bought 2 pcs neoprene water bottle sleeves for $11.99. The story behind this was that I only wanted one from Temu for $1.59 but in order to qualify for free shipping a minimum of $20 spend was needed so I bought about 15 and decided to sell the remaining. This was a second sale that I made of these water bottle sleeves.
