I'll later sell these silver strikes on eBay. The blue caps (clad silver) on eBay sells for about $29. The red cap (.999 fine silver) sells for about $50. Silver strikes are won in casino slot machines.

I've never heard of that. They are actually dispensed by the machines? That's cool. I don't believe there's anything like that in any of the east coast casinos.

Yes the silver strikes slot machines dispenses it. The machines are.25 cents machine which requires 3 max credit bets. The majority of silver strikes in the machines are clear caps worth $10 and can be redeemed at the casino cage (cashier). Besides the blue caps and red caps they also have yellow caps which sells for about $100 on eBay.

Yellow caps are .999 fine silver as is the red caps but I'm not sure how yellows are worth $99 and reds are worth $50.

I just bought this .999 fine silver strike on eBay for $20.50 w/free shipping. The way I figure things it is cheaper to buy it from eBay rather than to try to win it from the casino.

All the .999 fine silver strikes I will be keeping. All the silver clad silver strikes I've sold back to the casinos for its face value of $10 each. Some history of silver strikes pre 2005 all silver strikes were .999 fine. After 2005 majority of silver strikes are clad silver, except for the red caps and yellow caps are .999 fine silver. The blue caps are clad silver but are colorized so it's worth about $29 each which I'll be selling on eBay. Also, noteworthy is the .999 fine silver strikes are .50 of a troy ounce (the middle portion), the outer ring is brass. I've read somewhere that 30 clear caps can be taken to the casino cage to exchange for a $300 silver strike .999 fine silver, 6 troy ounces.

I wonder how many thousands of dollars he lost in the slots amassing that collection.

Ha-ha good question. For myself, I would estimate that over 4 nights at 4 Queens last week I tried maybe $400 in total at those silver strikes machines and got $200 back in silver strikes so my net total was a $200 loss in the silver strikes machines.

Definitely a slow month. I wasn't out shopping much and as a result didn't list very much. I was also out of town at a medical conference for the last 5 days of the month. On the plus side, I sold a number of items that I've had listed for as long as a year. Still, I exceeded my $500 profit goal, so I'm not complaining. Yard sale season is getting ramped up. I'm working the next 2 Saturdays so I'll miss them but starting 5/20 I've got my Saturdays off so I'll be able to start going to them. And I need to start hitting the estate sales more consistently. I dropped off a bit last month just because we had other stuff going on.

For sure, and the fact that what I'm calling a slow month still had me $113 over my budget goal says a lot. Ebay is definitely a money machine. Even when I don't put in that much effort, I still do just fine.
