Looks like I might have to refund both of my foreign currency sales. The standard envelope shipping for both may have gotten lost. One still says out for delivery since June 23 when today is June 27. The other is in Alaska where the location to deliver is in Pennsylvania. None of my shipments ever had to go through Alaska in order to reach a destination in the continental USA states.

QMM try checking tracking at the USPS site rather than through eBay.

Have the buyers contacted you? Don’t do anything until they fuss about it.

Both trackings display this below. Good advice, I won't don't anything further unless the buyers file claims for refunds. It's possible the buyers received the items but the tracking is not updated yet.

Yep. Every sale is a good sale, especially when you're selling your own trash basically.

I didn't tell my most recent estate sale story.

I bought a total of 34 items (2 for personal use, 1 for business supplies, 31 for resale) for the whopping cost of $40.

So far, I've listed 10 of the 31 items. I made my first sale today for $45 with a net profit of $39.45 so that one sale basically made me even and I have the other 30 items to sell. Once again, I'll probably end up with at least 10 times my investment and probably more once most of the stuff is sold.

I still haven't listed all of the items but I've now sold 4 things for a total of $97.68 and still have 27 more items to go. I listed a couple yesterday and just photographed 2 more and will list them tonight.

Ha-ha, I like the way you put it basically selling my own trash which is exactly correct. Ebay's price for a small flat rate box is only $7.60, whereas in person at USPS is $10.

Oh no I messed up. I purchased the wrong shipping, dam it. Is there a way to fix this? It says flat rate envelope. I wanted small flat rate box. Bummers.

You beat me to it. I was just coming on to tell you how to void the label. It takes a week or two to get the refund just so you know.

Yep. Anyone selling on ebay should get their postage online, never at the post office. Ebay gets the commercial rate.

There's another site many sellers use called Pirate Ship. It is free to have an account. Most of the time it will be the same price as ebay but they also offer Priority Mail Cubic rate which ebay doesn't offer and that can be a nice savings. It's best for items that are heavy for their size. You can link your ebay account to Pirtae Ship so that everything integrates seamlessly. The other great thing is that you can use Pirate Ship when you have personal packages to ship and still get the commercial rate, so if you're ever sending a gift or mailing something to friends or family, use that to buy the postage rather than going to the post office.

Ok thanks for the Pirate Ship pro-tip. I've tried before to use eBay's shipping to ship non-eBay items in order to get the eBay shipping price but obviously it doesn't work. I will be looking into Pirate Ship. On a side note my co-worker uses Offer Up to buy & sell things so I signed up and listed a weight bench for sale on Offer Up, we shall see how it goes.

June 2023 wrap up

Nothing on Marketplace in June

I actually felt like June was slow but I had that one $478 sale that really boosted the numbers. Still, I had 30 sales and ended up making a bit more than I did in May. June was my 2nd best month so far this year.

There's usually a bit of a summer slowdown so we'll see how it goes, though last year July was my 2nd best month so you never know, but that included the bottle cap bonanza.

I went to an estate sale on Friday. I bought 3 Lenox carousel animal figurines, 4 books, a bunch of cross stitch fabric, and a mug. I paid $30 for everything.

By the time I sell everything, I should make over 10 times what I spent.

As of today, my sales from that lot are at $293.35. There are still several books and a mug listed. That sale was on June 9 so it's taken under a month to get that 10x return.
