Pretty good sales this week. With the sales of the 2 silver strikes I plan to buy two 1 oz silver bars instead.

Nicely done, QMM.
I had slacked on a bit on my listings but I'm getting back into it. I picked up a neat item the other day. It's an antique photo album from the late 1800s. 40 photos, many taken by a couple of well known photographers of the time from Gettysburg, PA, one of whom supposedly worked with Matthew Brady to photograph the Gettysburg battlefield area. I've spent the last couple of days researching everything and I'm about ready to list it on ebay. I'm going to start it at $125 and see if anyone bites. If there's no action after a couple of weeks, I'll adjust it until it sells. I paid $3 for it at an estate sale on Friday.Steve

James your Mercury dimes (90% silver) purchase prompted me to look at 90% silver as well. I see on eBay a lot of 5 Mercury dimes sells for about $17. Or going up in denomination 90% silver quarters sells for about $7 or $8 each. Franklin half dollars 90% silver sells for $15 each which I just bought 4 Franklin half dollars but will buy more in bulk later to get it at lower prices.

QMM - the only thing I'd add here, DON'T BUY COINS ON AMAZON.
I've been comparing prices and coins on Amazon are significantly more expensive than comparable coins on ebay. They're like three to five more times more expensive. If I had to guess as to why, I would imagine its because Amazon has a large and significant market share, and they are able to leverage this to extract more value for Amazon, and less for buyers and sellers on their platform.
I like Mercury dimes or older silver coins because they're a good option for precious metal enthusiasts. I like ebay because a) the prices are good relative to Amazon and b) my local coin shops are all in a cruddy part of downtown and I don't like dealing with violent homeless schizophrenic people if I can possibly avoid it. Plus on ebay you can use a cash back site and get a percentage or two back.

Totally not my realm but what about Marketplace? That has a huge advantage over eBay in that there are no fees for the seller and if they do cash transactions, there’s no 1099 to worry about (not that I’m encouraging tax evasion). On eBay I have to figure 15% for fees and 25% or so for taxes. If I can sell the same item with none of that overhead, I can offer a much better price.Steve

Ebay charges an approximate 13% fee so $97 x .13 = $12.61, so $97 - $12.61 = $84.39 this should be my payout from eBay.

Keep in mind that the fee isn’t just on the sale price. It’s also on the shipping charge and tax. We’re you promoting any of these items? Does this payout include all 3 sales or is there still money pending?
You need to look at the breakdown for each item to see the fees that were charged.Steve

QMM - what about some shares in a silver ETF? Or a precious metals fund? You might some income that way along with your exposure to precious metals.james.c.hendrickson@gmail.com
