Alright, the updated Fauci Ouchie did cause more arm soreness compared to the last booster and at about 8 hours post vaccination I felt pretty sluggish, but not sick. I didn't get sick from the vaccine or from the boosters. I caught Covid for the first time (that I know of) 2 weeks ago flying home from Illinois. I have never felt so horrible in my life. I am on the mend now, but still don't feel well and am so weak. I was overdue for a booster and I am determined to never allow that to happen again.

I believe any reaction to boosters is highly variable including no reaction at all, but most symptoms resolve within a few days. I felt sluggish well into yesterday afternoon but got a great night of sleep and feel normal again this morning. My reaction to vaccines ranges from sluggish to feeling unwell, where my nose will run a bit and I get body aches. This one was definitely on the mild side, but I'm sure there are myriad factors that go into each instance.

I "heard" that there may now be a test for Long Covid, but haven't done much reading. Anyone know more about that?

No test yet. I think it's very possible that we will find that the most severe forms of Long COVID (ME/CFS-like symptoms) are caused by reactivation of a virus we are nearly all infected with (EBV). My thought at this point is that a history of a bad initial bout of EBV (Mono) when you were younger means you are much more likely to wind up with long COVID after catching this virus.

Yeah I know the CDC extended the expiration date but come on man, 1/13/23, good grief. No wonder the gobmint is giving away 2 kits for free. I'm embarrassed to give this away for free to my friends in Mexico, the government should feel ashamed of its wasteful spending.

If testing has shown the kits to still be effective why is that a problem? This is how science works. What would be wasteful would be trashing millions of perfectly good kits.

Here's the FDA link discussing expiration date extensions. For that kit specifically, looks like it's good for a year past the expiration printed on the box.

I'm sure your friends in Mexico would appreciate having it. We've already used a couple this season, so they're getting put to good use in our household as well.

I'm surprised anyone has received their kits yet from the Sept 25th allocation. The covidtest.gov site says they begin shipping this week.

One thing you have to watch out for is I've seen a trend in companies printing the package date rather than the expiration date. If that is the case here, your test kit is less than a year old.

Everyone eligible should get the booster. Mixing and matching brands doesn’t matter. And I wouldn’t step foot in an airport or plane right now without an N95 or KN95 mask on.

My local CVS has appts today so I made one for tonight for both flu & COVID booster. CVS' website even asked if I wanted the shingles shot for a triple wammy but during COVID I had gotten the shingles series. Also during COVID I got the series of Hep A & B, I think it was 3 shots. And in Los Angeles during the Monkey pox height community pop-up tent events were held to get vax'd against it so I got that too. At night I must glow in the dark, lol.
