I obviously can't answer for him/her, but I have got the same result on a couple of occasions in the past when I threatened to cancel. In my case, it didn't involve faster internet speeds but the last time I got HBO and a lower bill. I find it frustrating to have to go through it every couple years.Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostCare to clarify, so your TV cable bill went down by $25, you got more channels (which ones), and increased internet speeds. I'm curious how you did that.
I honestly think it has a lot to do with who answers that call. I have also had reps not give a damn if I cancelled and just went ahead and processed the cancellation.

We did the same thing a few months ago. I went to Comcast to see if they could do anything to lower my bill. They result was upgrading to about 100 more channels, faster internet, and adding phone service which dropped our bill about $20 or so (I don't recall the exact amount).Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostCare to clarify, so your TV cable bill went down by $25, you got more channels (which ones), and increased internet speeds. * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

I upgraded from double play to the triple play package. The triple play package includes all of the pay channels such as Showtime and cinemax. Plus there are a few other channels as well. The first year promotional rate for the triple play is actually $25 less than what I was paying for the double play package. After the one year promotional rate is up I plan to call back and try to get it dropped again.Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostCare to clarify, so your TV cable bill went down by $25, you got more channels (which ones), and increased internet speeds. 2 recent wins:
1. Billing error correction: Just made our semi-annual auto insurance payment. Noticed that the discount for completion of the defensive driver course had not been applied. Called and got that corrected, "saving" $46.
2. Banked time: Spent a chunk of time over the weekend "banking time." I'm about to start back to working 60 hr weeks for the next 4-5 months, so I took care of many tasks that I could in advance. I consider that an investment in my earning capabilities. I stocked up on non-perishables like cleaning supplies, washed the car, deep-cleaned the house, paid bills, and made sure my calendar was up-to-date (to prevent things from slipping through the cracks when life gets hectic). I will confess, though, that I did not get any ironing done - boo - will try to get some done this evening.

It may be that I was just misinformed, but I'm going to post this as a win!
My dd18 is away at college and is sick. She had an appointment at the clinic. I told her to bring her insurance card, cause my neighbor said they billed her insurance and she had to pay copay.
Well dd says its FREE! , they even gave her some meds.
Color me surprised. I didn't go away to school so didn't know.

I forgot about this thread!!
Last week I won $63 in a 50/50 raffle at work and then I turned around and won a drawing for 6 tickets in our companies suite at a ball game. And THEN my husband & son's bracket won in the NCAA tournament and they got $50. So it was a winning week in our home

My daughter just cracked the glass screen on her new Iphone the other day. My husband didn't want to spend the money on a protective screen or the insurance, but I know my daughter and made them get it. I'm expecting her to lose it within 2 months.Originally posted by 97guns View PostDropped my phone today and cracked the protective glass screen, if it hadn't been installed it probably would have costed me $150
We got bumped from our flight to AZ and we each got $500 in vouchers for waiting 1 1/2 hrs, plus money for dinner. Thinking about using them to go back to AZ for winter break.
I found out 2 days before departure that I have a cousin I didn't know about, who happens to live near a hotel we were staying at. We got to meet her and got along great. Now my mom is back in touch with some of her cousins again.

Nice score msomnipotent on the $500 getting bumped. I volunteer whenever possible to get that as well. Was the $500 each or together?
I see it says "we each," holy cow that's huge.Last edited by QuarterMillionMan; 04-06-2017, 02:27 PM.

Yep! A total of $1,536. We got $36 for dinner. We weren't planning on any other travel this year, but this changes things.
And another win! I found out this afternoon that the dog we found on our trip got adopted this morning! We had to cancel the part of our trip that my daughter was looking forward to the most and then drive 2.5 hrs to a shelter, but it was worth it. I knew it was a good dog and probably would have taken it home myself if we had driven to AZ (after we got the ticks off). The poor sack of bones was loaded with ticks. I saw about 20 stuck on him, plus I killed 7 and my daughter killed more.

I posted earlier that, among other good things, that I got a second job. I honestly didn't ask about the pay because, as a cleaning job, I knew it wouldn't pay much so I figured $8 or $9 an hour.
Well, turns out I'm getting paid by the job. $60 a shift, which is taking me about 4 hours. Once I get my rhythm, it will be more like 3 hours. And I love what I'm doing!!
