News crews entered some of the looted businesses, graffiti every where, bare shelves, glass all over. The news helicopter said cars are driving around looking for easy looting so police pulling over those cars. No more fires. Smaller crowds. Helicopter said never seen so many blue & red flashing lights before. It is 11:20 pm now in Los Angeles and seems like things quieted down a lot.

I think the entire covid situation made this thing much worse than it would be otherwise. It created tons of tension in communities, both along racial and income lines. This incident was basically the spark that set it all off. Watch for more power kegs to blow in the future.

I live in one of the “so-called” affluent areas, and 90% of my neighbors carry a mortgage and work full time jobs. There is no one lounging in the pool at 1PM in the afternoon, so affluent we are not. With that said, I fully understand how anger can be misdirected and messaging gets lost in the process. I know that the “opportunity gap” has left so many people outside of the bounds to pursue their American dream. This site has been a place, where race has been a non-factor in how I engage and learn more about finances. However, I will chime in when I believe a comment is culturally insensitive and lacks basic decency. I hope that we continue to learn ways to be even more financially independent and inclusive. 1000 National Guard comes at midnight. They should have ordered them 2 days ago. Los Angeles is becoming the next Minneapolis.

Orange county now sending reinforcements. And bigger fires now showing up. Looks like some sort of warehouse. Fire departments showing up with police escorts. Crowds not as dense and splintering off. Trouble makers.

And no, this has nothing to do with George Floyd. Prayer sessions and candlelight vigils and peaceful protests are about that. Looting and rioting are not. And as I said earlier, indications are that white supremacy groups are behind some of this, at least in Minneapolis.

The people who are calling "to take this to affluent neighborhoods" appear to be black people, at least from their profile photos & posting history.

Rioting in Los Angeles still ongoing, breaking into stores, ATM put into pick up truck, high-end $1000 shoe store looted, tear gas smoke billowing, reinforcements from sheriffs and other police being summoned, news camera man coughing from tear gas, etc.

Actually my friends tell me that on social media that majority of comments they see are people justifying the riots as a wake up to systemic racism and deserve to be able to express themselves due to being oppressed after all these years. And these comments are from people I know personally who are not associated with white supremacy groups or criminals.

I live in a town that is full of rich white and Asian folk. I moved here specifically for the school district and I rent. I couldn't afford even a condo here, leave alone a house with a yard.

Today, on Twitter, I saw people talking about taking this "sh1t" (code for arson & violence) to my town and the other affluent ones around it. It really scares me because as much as I empathize with genuine protests I am loathe to support rioting, theft, arson and vandalism. I honestly feel that this is no longer about George Floyd but about targeting businesses and cities for LOOTING and PROFITEERING.

I called my local police station and expressed my concern about the fact that people are talking about targeting affluent neighborhoods and mobilizing on social media. NO, I do not own a gun, but I am starting to wish I had. I support protests but not rioting and looting. I will do anything to protect my family and if I see rioters at my door, I will fight. I will not tolerate my home being burglarized or my family threatened. I hope the police are taking these threatening tweets seriously because, again, this no longer appears to be about Justice for George but about criminal intentions, violence & (for me) self-preservation.
