There might be some utility in keeping the older records in computerized form. Its not a bad idea to periodically go back to over your tax records to see how well you are doing in terms of your net worth.

What you want to see is your percentage of tax going down and your income going up.

    • Just sold my floor press in the garage, which I'm surprised how quick it went, along with a car deck on CL. Sold another pair of speakers to a co-worker friend. Last week I sold my Lovesac/Pillowsac beanbag.

Tossed out some old baseboard trim from my kitchen remodel and cardboard build up in the garage. Gave an extra laser printer and toner to a friend.

I have another bag of clothes to donate, along with stack of CDs, and couple of misc electronics to post on eBay on CL. As well as trying to sell a large chunk of my comic collection.

The extra pocket cash is nice, but de-cluttering is more rewarding.

      • I put 8 things on bookoo yesterday. I will get $210 if everything sells at my price, but I know they will not. I'm ok with it as long as people don't get too greedy. I plan on putting our old treadmill on when my husband gets home. I'm really hoping it will sell today because I keep stubbing my toes on it.

First week of January would be good for that one. The week everyone starts with their resolutions to lose weight. Also known as Hell Week for the regulars at the gym.

          • The declutterers on the forum may be interested in Amazon & Goodwill's "Give Back Box" program. Fill your Amazon shipping boxes with items (except electronics) you want to donate to Goodwill, print out a label and schedule a home pickup. Amazon picks up the shipping tab.

            • That's cool, scfr. Thanks for sharing. We have a Goodwill donation site about a mile away so we don't need the free pick up but that's great for those for whom it isn't as convenient.

I've been seriously slacking in the decluttering. Just been too busy working 2 jobs. And we were away for 2 weeks in December so I had ended all of my ebay and half.com listings plus we're going away again in a couple of weeks. Once we are back from that trip, and DD goes back to school, hopefully I'll get back on track. And I guess I'll need to start the brand new 2017 thread.

              Happy holidays to all!

              • That is an interesting concept. I sell on Amazon so am on the site a lot and had not heard of the program. Most of our stuff goes to my local thrift store which selles things for about 10% of the cost at Slavation Army and about 50% of the cost of the Goodwill, although I have been finding some terrific finds at our Goodwill - and best of all a bathroom for customers! One $1.50 purchase there netted me $119 when the items sold!

Thanks to people that donate their good quality goods to these places. Like I've told the ladies at my thrift store and they agree; I would rather buy things and resell them to earn groceries and utility bills than go next door to the food bank or fill out applications for help.
