Those were all the rage for a while. There were even Nordic Track stores in the malls. And they weren't cheap. It was a fad that has clearly died out and now you can't even give them away. Funny how that happens.

Did you list it for free on craigslist and freecycle? Maybe a place like Purple Heart Veterans or Big Brothers Big Sisters would come pick it up from you.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Yeah, I remember those stores in the mall!

It is in perfect condition, the computer works, etc.....original cost was around $500 (I looked it up). I got it at a yard sale for $7, so I don't mind donating it.

LOL. At that point, I wouldn't mind just putting it out at the curb.

Yeah, I keep thinking, "Someone could really get some use out of this!"

          Hopefully someone can.

Putting it at the curb, at least around here, does not mean it ends up in a landfill. Any time I've put anything "good" out for the trash, it was gone long before the trash truck came around.

Not here. I live in a neighborhood with only 24 houses. We all have a min of 2 acres. We are on the end of a cul-de-sac. Our neighborhood is tucked away. Driving by, you wouldn't even know it was a neighborhood.

No one comes back here but trash guys, visitors going to specific homes, and Fed Ex trucks.

              • A tree came down during the night and took out power to our block. We took advantage of the down time to do some decluttering. DW decided (and I agreed) that it was time to empty out the two shelves full of cookbooks and cooking magazines that we never look at. The magazines date back to 1998. If we haven't used them in 18 years, I think it's safe to get rid of them.

I worked upstairs and cleared some stuff from the office/computer room. I also cleaned out one drawer from the dresser in the hall. I found the usual mix of trash, recycling, stuff to sell, and stuff to donate.

                • I thought I was done getting rid of old cooking magazines, and then I found more. So as of 2 days ago, I think I am officially done with all the magazines. Unfortunately, I have subscriptions to about 10 magazines, and that is after I canceled the ones I lost interest in. It seems like they never stop coming!

I decluttered our aquarium stand. I couldn't believe the stuff in there. TWO broken filters, among other things. Fishmox that expired in 2012. It is a pretty large, book case-like stand, so things were sitting behind closed cabinets. Yet another out of sight, out of mind area I need to pay attention to.

I also rid myself of several unwanted dog toys. My stupid dog just won't play with toys for some reason. She acted like I threw a grenade at her the last time I tried to play fetch.

We are having a lot of work done to our house, so I have been busy trying to clean up construction dust instead of decluttering. I'm hoping to start again next week.

                  • Sold another item on eBay tonight. I don't have any auctions running now but I have a bunch of things I need to list. I usually have time to do that on the weekends.

                    • I'm doing a little straightening up today, no full scale decluttering, but still making a little progress.

And I just listed something on ebay that has been sitting on my desk for ages.

                      • I just did what would be considered the "ultimate" decluttering act for me: selling my home brewery. This is about 14 years in the making, and hundreds of man-hours worth of effort. It has been the source of a lot of joy, but I felt the need to move on because of many reasons. So this afternoon, we filled a trailer and made a couple guys from a nearby city VERY happy with their new possessions!

                        • Sold 2 more items on ebay.

We (mainly DW) are in the think of cleaning the house for Passover. Much of the focus has been in our living room where our collectibles are displayed. While we haven't really gotten rid of anything, we have organized a number of items to clean up the displays a bit. There is a lot more to be done in there but every little bit helps.

                          • I've got quite a few things that need to be dropped off at Goodwill. Today I have errands to run, so I will gather those items up and make that happen. Getting the items out of the house is the best feeling!

                            • I'm having work done on the house and wasn't able to get any decluttering done in a while. I started on a closet in a spare bedroom. I threw away 6 old pillows yesterday, and my husband asks where all the spare pillows went last night. He hasn't used them in I don't know how long, but now that they are gone, he wants them! Also found the birthday gift I should have given my nephew in February. Found more magazines! This time I found several unread Vogue magazines taking up a lot of space.

One time my daughter was going through a drawer and found a DVD she had wanted. She asked DW where it came from and DW said, "We gave that to you for Chanukah." DD said, "No you didn't." It was bought as a gift but forgotten. So she got a late present.

As we've continued cleaning, we have actually gotten rid of a few things. I found a stack of old cassette tapes that went in the trash. Also a few Disney things that have just accumulated over the years that neither of us care about. A number of items were also just not where they belonged and have been put in their appropriate location which has helped make the room look a lot more organized.

We both agree that it is time to revamp the collection. We're at that stage where we now feel that "less is more". There are a lot of items on display that just don't have any significance to us and aren't of any particular monetary value. We aren't tackling that task right now but I'm sure within the next few months we'll take that on.
