  • Into my decluttering pile, a blanket and a vase. I also scanned recipes I had as hard copies into my computer. It was about ten or less so didn't take too long.

We make and bottle our own limoncello, but we probably do have more bottles saved than we realistically need. They're not really in the way though and we do give them away as gifts so I'll probably keep those around. We have more than enough other clutter to deal with before worrying about those.

My listings don't mention a shipping discount for multiple items but I will certainly ship them all together and issue the buyer a partial refund to reflect the combined shipping.
So the buyer paid a total of $23.60 in shipping (without so much as asking for a discount, which I certainly would have done if I were buying 8 items at once from the same seller). The shipping was posted as $2.95/item. What I did was charge $2.95 for the first item and $0.50 each for the other 7, so I sent her a refund of $17.15. I'm pretty sure she'll be happy about that.

The moral of the story, though, is to always at least ask for a discount if you're buying multiple items.

You are a good eBay seller. I would have done the same!

          • I listed 2 items on ebay today.

I had one auction end unsuccessfully last night and relisted at a lower price. The first time around, it had 0 views and 0 watchers. So far today, it has 14 views and 2 watchers so I'm hoping the lower price does the trick.

            • That's a curiosity, Steve. Do you see any correlation between watchers and the end sales price?

Usually this time of year I seem to have quite a few things to donate to Goodwill. Not so much this year. So far just a small box, not even full.

I think when there are a few watchers, it's more likely that someone actually bids. But I've also had auctions where there were several watchers and the item still went unsold. In general, though, I'd say having watchers is a promising sign.

                • Was planning to declutter today but we have a goddamned raccoon that won't leave the mudroom which has delayed our plans.

                  • I just listed 6 ebay auctions for Game Boy games. Anything that doesn't sell the first time I plan to put all together as one big lot of games and try to sell it that way. If they still don't sell, they go to Goodwill.

I also reduced the price on a couple of items I has listed previously.

                    • I already have bids on 2 Game Boy game auctions (each for 2 games) and one other item that I listed yesterday, so that's off to a good start.

                      • Yesterday I was able to dump all my cardboard from flooring project (didn't want wait for 3 recycling sessions) and wooden crate from oven, at my friend's work dumpster. I like having a clean garage to work in.

This item got a bid last night. The auction runs until tomorrow night and has 4 watchers so it might go higher but even if it doesn't, I'm happy to get rid of it and make some money on the deal.

                          • I'm having a really good week on ebay. I currently have 9 items with bids. Three end today and six end tomorrow so the prices may still rise from their current levels. Regardless, I'm happy with the current bids and since the primary goal is decluttering, I'm very satisfied that all of these items will be leaving the house in the next few days. Of course, the money is a nice benefit, too. The bids total about $120 though shipping has to come out of that for some of the items but I'll net about $100.

Between yesterday and today, I had 12 successful ebay auctions. Total sales of almost $215. For the purposes of this thread, though, it's not the money that matters but the stuff that will leave the house: 13 Game Boy games, 2 collector magazines, a cable modem, and a box of 50 promotional pens.

I only started one new auction today for a lot of 10 DVDs. They're not worth much individually but I'm hoping someone will buy the lot of the them.

                              • I decided to work in the garage for a bit this morning. In recent weeks, I had been gradually accumulating stuff to give away but hadn't done anything with it. I got a bunch of stuff packed up today, including multiple newly unearthed items, and packed the trunk and headed to Goodwill. I took 7 boxes of assorted things (books, toys, kitchen utensils, glassware, etc.), a filing drawer, and an old metal file box.

I also took the first step on what will be an entire sub-project on the decluttering journey: dealing with photographs. I'm actually going to start a new thread on that topic in a moment.
