  • dawnwes, does your city operate an electronic recycle centre? A more convenient recycle bin may be available at Staples who are also well known for having recycle collector bins.

The city we live in does not. The adjacent large city might. I think Best Buy or Goodwill will take them. We just need to remove the hard drives I guess.

Yeah. Cameras are worth $25-$40 with shipping another $7-$10. Fees will run about $7. It might be worth it for $15-$25. I guess I can try.

DVDs that haven't sold are going OUT the door tomorrow.

I will also make a trip over to the homeschool room with all the books to consign. That will be a huge relief actually.

        • Listed an item on craigslist that is of reasonable value ($35-40) but heavy so shipping would be nearly $20. I'm asking $36. Hopefully someone will snag that.

          • Looks like I may have sold my large matching wood hutches! They are coming tomorrow morning. It will be good to get those out of here.

Thinking of going ahead and selling my dining room set. I hate it. I have 4 very nice parson's chairs and a folding 8' table I could put a tablecloth on and still use that to stage.

            What do you think?

Also, the lady who was buying the sofa never showed, so hoping someone else will buy it.

              • UGH! They didn't buy it. I had a photo and measurements listed and they acted like they had no idea what it really was. :roll eyes:

                OH well.

                • My sister took a giant container the size of a coffin full of my stuff to sell. Bookoo has gone cold for me, but my sister is able to sell it within days on her Facebook site. She also sold a medium sized box of stuff last week. I finally have a firm date of March 9th for a charity pick up. I feel better already, but now I really have to box the junk up!

She gets 1st dibs on everything. Her husband and kids loved to shop in my basement. And I told her to take 1/2 of all the money, but she won't.

                        • 18 pairs of pants and 4 tops bagged up and ready to donate to a town not too far away that many people lost everything in a hurricane and FEMA has done barely anything. It was a poor town to begin with, now it is just decimated. 3 yrs (?) later and people still don't have running water. They don't give receipts but I will probably end up with the standard deduction next year so no big deal. at least I know it will be used.

onto the closet and then really think about keeping the one size down clothes that are stored away

                          • I spent an hour in the basement today, mostly going through more of my collectible stuff. A few things went in the trash or recycling bin. Some more craft supplies went into a box that I plan to give away to friends at some point. I found a few things that aren't worth selling on ebay so I added them to the yard sale pile. I also found a few things that I think are worth selling on ebay so I'm going to work on getting those listed.

Of the 4 items I listed last week, 2 have bids. Auctions end tomorrow.

                            • I'm doing the 40 things purge for Lent. I forgot to count the third large bag of donations and it's tied up tight. But I know I am over 40 things. Feels great!

                              • I should be able to get more done this week. I have one child on Spring Break so I don't need to transport him around.

I am having a hard time finding free boxes. I have gone to 5 stores and they say they now crush their boxes with some huge machine that crushes and bundles them and they don't save them for anyone. It is becoming a huge time waster.

I read an article online that says it is harder and harder to find free boxes at stores as stores aren't giving them away anymore.

I did get some from two people who recently moved and had them for free, but they are all large sizes and I really need about 100 of those 18x18x12 size boxes as a lot of my stuff is either heavy (books) or small items (nick nacks, kitchen items, etc...)

I hate spending $$ on boxes, but if I don't get some soon, I will need to.

I have 15 of those huge wardrobe size boxes and thinking that they really won't do much for my needs......ARGH!
